Hi, I am 42 years old, female and would like some advice. Back in May of this year my church sponsored a mobile medical ultrasound company that performed simple ultrasound tests on various organs of the body for a small fee. I had the ultrasound tests done and they told me I had complex cysts on my thyroid. I went to my doctor and showed her the ultrasound that they did, but she could't understand what she was looking at. I told her about my symptoms of cold sensitivity which as become a problem. I have to wear a jacket wherever I go, in the store, work and at home. I live in Texas-go figure. Other symptoms include eczema on the scalp and in the ears, constipaiton, feeling tired, light headaches, moody and flare-ups that come up suddenly on the right side of my throat. It's not like a sore throat that is at the back part of your throat, but at the front. It's sore to the touch, hard to swallow and to talk, and lasts for a couple days then goes away. My family can't figure me out at times. So, the doctor felt my neck ever so lightly and sent me to have some blood work and a real ultrasound. I asked her about the T3, T4 and to check for antibodies and she said that the TSH is all you need to check for thyroid problems. I don't believe she has all the answers. The labs came back after a week of waiting. The TSH was 3.1 and the ranges are 0.3-5.1. My TSH has been higher in the past like 4.0 and 4.8. Don't know what to make of that? My ultrasound shows the left lobe measures 4.5 cm long x 1.2 cm AP x 1.3 cm transervse and the right lobe measures 4.8 x 1.4 x 1.5 cm. The isthmus measures 3 mm. On the right side there are two small lesions one measuring 3 mm is mixed in density and other is hopechoic and measues 4 mm in diameter. The left lobe has two small lesions on measuring 3 mm in the mid aspect and hopechoic and the other 7 mm lesion in the upper pole and is lightly mixed with echogenicity and is relatively hypoechoic. Radiologist said all lesions are benign and should follow-up in 6 months. What about the symptoms? My question to you is should I see a specialist? What could they do for me? What would they test for? Any feedback about this would help. Not sure what to do? THANKS
