I have an 8.7mm neoplasm and two enhanced nodules

which are a part of the mammary chain.

I am goingfor a biopsy.

Tell me what to expect. What are my chances it is not

cancer? What are

my chances that it is cancer?

Hi, Mopo1027.

I so know what you're going through... I remember how I was before my biopsy, unable to eat (I lost 9 pounds in a week, I wasn't eating at all), unable to sleep, barely able to function at all, being incredibly dizzy all the time, and having this horrible feeling of NOT KNOWING, the anxiety, and the physical distress...

I so know, and I so understand...

Unfortunately, nobody but the biopsy can tell you what's wrong.

Wrongfully neoplasm is assimilated to cancer, but that's not always true. A neoplasm is just an abormal tissue proliferation, a growth. It can very well be benign. The statistics show that there are more benign tumours than malignant. I wish you from all my heart to be in the majority that only has harmless nodules.

Do they hurt? How were they discovered? Only one breast is affected? Are there any nipple discharges? Did the breast(s) modify their shape/color?

When are you going for your biopsy?

BEST OF LUCK, and lots of strength, and, I know it's easier said than done, but try to worry about things that already happened, try not to suffer in advance...

Think positive, and surround yourself with laughter and good mood. Take it as lightly as you can, it may be nothing and and all this anxiety will prove itself so in vain... I very much hope it's nothing.

Thank you so much Emilyb for responding to my question. I went to see my "surgeon"

today. He squeezed both of my nipples hard. Only my right had some clear discharge!!!! I didn't even know I was having any discharge.

I was shocked!! There wasn't any blood. That seemed good.RIGHT??If the discharge is clear. He found my tumor right away. He used

terms like 10 o'clock blah..blah.. He will be performing a needle biopsy NEXT tuesday.NEXT TUESDAY!!!! He will be going away. Just my luck.

Now I have to wait until WEDNESDAY for the results. I am terrified of WEDNESDAY!!!!!

I have a little tenderness now . I went in at age 35 for a baseline mammo. LUCKY me it's been a rollercoaster ride ever since.

I really appreciated your response and hope to hear from you soon.

Any news, Mopo? Even if you don't feel like talking, or you don't have any news yet, please drop us a line. I've been watching your story since the beginning, and I had you in my prayers.

I know how it is, I know how horrible the wait... You can share, there are people here that only need a word to understand.

Hey Mopo

Hope it was benign. It's truly frustrating waiting for biopsy results. The pathology report is so important though. They can determine wheter or not its cancerous during the biopsy (that is what they did for me). However, you need to know your hormone receptors, HER2/neu status, and all sorts of other stuff for onc to properly perscribe treatment. Chemo is very complex and targeted. Most breast cancers aren't very aggressive; so you have some time to wait for pathology and to actually think and make a decision, just don't wait too long.

Hugs

Jessi

He said something about it not coming back as Fibosomething. I wasn't even going to go to the Damn follow up. I am con fused. Does this tell me if it's cancer ??? The biopsy should tell you if it's cancer; if they sample the correct area. If the needle biopsy isn't giving enough info they may need to try a core biospy or an incesional biopsy. Sometimes those tumors like to hide behind other things and give false negative results. It's better to go through all this hassel now and have it be nothing rather than waiting and turn out to be cancer that has grown and spread!

Sorry about your Dad; hopefully you being healthy is what brings your family back together! Most hospitals have social workers to help counsel patients and familys, you may want to look into this. Also most areas have cancer support groups for patients and family members.

Good luck

Jessi
