After an emergency peritonitis surgery (due to colon diverticulitis), my father developed adherent scars. We were told that he can only get rid of them surgically, but he doesn't even want to hear about going under the knife again (the operation and recovery were very traumatic for him). Is there any non-surgical way of removing them (or some non-invasive surgical procedure, at least)?

Thank you.

Hello, BluvyM, and sorry to hear about your father's problems. My own father had something similar happen to him eight years ago, and, unfortunately, to my knowledge, there isn't a non-surgical cure for adherent scars.

If somebody has more info on this, I would also be very interested.

Someone told me the other day about laser surgery to remove scars...... Has anyone had experience with that?

So laser scar removal I have heard is pretty popular now, laser treatment reduces the appearance of scars by 50 to 80 percent and helps prevent their recurrence.

So get in touch with your doc and see if its for you!!!

If you dad does have laser scar removal will you let us know the results?

Good luck
