I am 18, and have had my period 3 times without being on birth control. My ob/gyn put me on birth control for 2 years, and once i was off it i stopped getting my period. My ob/gyn recently put me on a 10-day pill of Medroxypr AC 10 mg to "force" me to get my period. What could be some possibilities that I am not getting my period? Could I not be able to have kids in the future? What can i do to get my period?

It's not very clear: did you have these 3 periods before going on birth control (if so, you should't have gone...), or after stopping it?

Anyway, progesterone should help now. How long have you been taking it?

I had gotten my period 3 times (each which lasted 6-9 days) before i started birth control, but they were each atleast 6 months apart from eachother. My ob/gyn wanted me to be on birth control for the 2 years to make it normal, but after stopping in december i haven't gotten my period since then. I was put on the 10 day medication (the name was in my last post) and have no finished the 10 days and have my period. Will I most likely get my period more nomally now, or is this a condition I should be worried about. If so how can I confront my doctor, and will I be able to have children in the future?

Hello, Stina.

First of all, yes, I think you should take this seriously.

Second, I don't think your doctor should have put you on birth control after only 3 irregular periods, but that's his choice and I suppose he had his reasons.

Third: did you have any periods while on birth control?

Fourth, it may take a while for your body to adjust and you having normal periods.

As about the kids, of course there's a big chance for your fertility not to be affected, but first your amenorrhea (lack of menstruation) has to be assessed and its causes identified correctly. It most likely was a hormonal imbalance, but what is the exact diagnosis?

Did your doc give you any tests (blood tests), did he give you a complete physical, did you have a complete gynecological checkup?
