Why wear a ribbon?

"I wear this ribbon as a survivor of child abuse" (Isabelle200894)

MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunny_fly)

I didn't know where else to post this article about L-Theanine. In the process of study, I came across an excellent article that may be helpful to many searching for a very safe product to take to induce relaxation, boost concentration and learning ability. It really gave me Relaxation.

I was diagnosed 13 years ago as Bipolar. I had severe depressive episodes and anxiety/agitation. Three years ago, after being on mood stabilizers for ten years, I began seeing a Naturopath. I started taking amino acids (5-HTP, Theanine, GABA) and have been otherwise medication and symptoms free for three years. Now I won't advocate everyone trying this, but I am really convinced that it works. The 5-HTP works in your brain to stimpulate and regulate Serotonin. The GABA works on Dopamine, and the Theanine helps regulate the stress hormones. I wish that more doctors in the US would look into this as an option for treatment, but right now it is only being used in Europe in a widespread sense. Anyway, check out www.neurorelief.com for more. In terms of why Theanine and/or GABA would be better than other 'medications', it is because the amino acids simply ancourage our brain to produce more of the chemicals we need to feel calm. Prescription medications alter how our brains process and receive the chemicals, and in some cases, actually prevent our brains from being able to use the chemicals and produce the chemicals on our own, without the meds. The first option sounds better to me! ANyway, just my two cents.
