I have been off work and went back to work on Thursday, got lack of work. I went back yesterday. At first break I took my medicine and felt like it was lodged in my throat. I felt horrible. I never had that trouble with that went I off work. I went to second break, went in the break room, was on the phone and felt like I could hear everybody's conversation. I felt like I was having a manic attack or a psychotic break again. I don't even know if I might have had an anxiety attack. This time I went to the nurse and she sent me home. I thought I was ready to go back to work, maybe I'm not. They have got my medicine right.

So sorry to hear of your struggle, carolyn77. You are very brave to have attempted to go back to work. I don't know, but wonder if perhaps this is common for folks as they try to return? I'd be willing to think it is. I know that I often feel "overwhelmed" and have physical symptoms similar to what you describe when I do things that are new to me, or for instance, return to work after my father died. It was so hard, and also so happy!, to see my old work friends again. But I cried when I saw them. My heart raced and I felt exhausted.

How are you doing since you posted this? What type of work are you returning to?

I am doing factory work. I have to be up at 4:00 am to be at work at 6:00 am. I have been having a hard time hearing the alarm. I went to work on Wednesday and felt so exhausted and almost fell asleep driving. I am returning to factory work. I really don't like it there but I have got to work. I have been there for 28 years. I don't know how to do anything else. I would like to find an online business.

I work night shift (12 hrs) and have to take provigil in order to get home alive. Have you ever taken that or heard of it? I don't know if it would be ok for you, but it has been a God-send for me. It did nothing for my mom, however, and one of the others in this support group.

I'm sorry you don't like your work. Maybe someone can give you some tips about online businesses. Unfortunately, I'm no help there! How are you doing now, with the other symptoms you mentioned before when you first went back? Do your meds make you extra tired, aside from being up at that horrible hour! For me, the time between 3-7 am is the absolute worst part of my hours.

About being on my job. To me its real boring and very very much stressful. I feel tired in the mornings even if I drink coffee. My medicine are affecting me. I was doing great while I was off. I have been so tired since I've been back. I have thought about going on 24/7 shift. As much as I am tired I don't even know if I could handle it.

I have thought about going on the 6:00pm to 6:00am if they would let me. It would be 24/7. That way I wouldn't oversleep. I overslept again this morning.

I love working nights. It is a whole different world when you are "opposite" everyone else. What do you mean 24/7? Most places let you work 3 12-hr shifts each week (equals a 40hr week). I have found that I function much better at night. I do have to take the provigil, though, at about 10-12midnight so that I can get home ok in the morning. But I have a 45 min drive home. Sometimes I can manage without it, but it isn't worth the risk.

I hate it that you find your job so boring. What did you always dream of doing when you were growing up? Is there anything you would LOVE to be doing now?

I work in a non-clinical role in a hospital. There are a variety of jobs available in the hospital that start out about $9-$10 per hour, with benefits and they pay for you to go to school. They will pay for school almost immediately if you are going into a field like nursing but if you are there for about 3-5 yrs (many places) they'll pay for you to go to school in any field at all, not just medical. Some of my friends work in housekeeping because they make as much as I do and get their tuition paid for nursing school. Just an idea.....
