I HAVE SEVERE ANXIETY PROBLEMS. I AM CURRETLY SEEKING DOCTORS HELP. I AM SCARED OF WHAT HE/SHE WILL THINK OF ME, ONCE I AM IN THE OFFICE.

AM I THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM?

Hi MISS1AMANDA,

You are definitely not the only one who thinks that.

However, you are definitely not the one who SHOULD STOP thinking that

You are not the first one to come to the doctor with anxiety attacks. If you were, you’d probably go to a different doctor…

The doctor understands your anxiety attacks from a medical point of view, he/she is the last one who would think a bad thing about a person in your situation.

You did the biggest step, and that is to acknowledge the fact that you need to get help. That’s great and most important, don’t let minor stuff like that stop you.

Good luck dear,

magic

THANKS FOR RESPONDING.... YOUR WORDS ARE VERY HELPFULL!!

THIS IS GOING TO BE THE FIRST TIME FOR ME TO SEE DOCTOR FOR MY PROBLEM.... THE ONLY THING THAT SUCKS IS THAT I HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE 28TH TO SEE HIM. I HEAR THAT HE IS A GOOD DOCTOR THOUGH, SO I THINK ITS WORTH THE WAIT.

I AM GLAD THAT I MADE THE BIG STEP INTO ADMITTING THAT I HAD A PROBLEM. I STILL FEEL WEIRD THAT MY PARENTS AND SISTERS KNOW OF IT. I HAVE TRIED HIDING IT FOR A LONG, BUT WHEN I WOULD HAVE MY ATTACKS, IT WAS MY PARENTS WHO I COULD COUNT ON TO CALM ME DOWN. I AM STILL EMBARRASSED THAT I HAD TO LET MY BOYFREIND KNOW OF MY PROBLEM, BUT HE NEEDS UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON AND NOT FREAK OUT. HE HAS BEEN VERY SUPPORTIVE OF ME SEEKING HELP.

My dear,

All your fears and worries are just normal for a person in your situation.

Its always hard telling the people you love about your problems, but its just another stage on the way to being better.

All your friends and family would love you just as much (and even more) after you tell them your troubles.

Keep strong.

Remember you are doing good to yourself. And you’re not harming anybody else.

I’d love to hear from you after the doc appointment.

With love,

Magic

HELLO MAGIC.

I WENT TO SEE A DOCTOR TODAY. WELL HE IS PUTTING ME ON SEVERAL TYPES OF MEDICATION.

THE MAJOR ONE I WILL BE TAKING IS PROZAC. (NOT SURE HOW ITS SPELLED)

AND 2 OTHER ONES. I AM NOT SURE OF THEIRS NAMES THOUGH. ONE IS TO CONTROL MY MOOD SWINGS AND THE OTHER IS TO CALM ME WHEN I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANIC ATTACK. (WHICH I FIND VERY NEAT.... I AM SUPPOSE TO PUT IT AT THE BOTTOM OF MY TONGUE AND IT WILL DISOLVE MAKING ME CALM DOWN AND THE SAME TIME. I HOPE THAT WORKS.

WELL I GUESS YOU CAN SAY THAT I AM ON THE WAY TO RECOVERY.

DO YOU KNOW ANY THING ABOUT PROZAC?

KNOW ANYONE ON IT?

I M NOT BIG ON TAKING PILLS, I AM SCARED....

Hi MISS1AMANDA,

It's great to hear from you again

Yes, I agree that you're on the right track to recovery - you're aware of your problem and you already taken action in trying to overcome it - that is awesome!

Regarding prozac, as far as I know, and I'm no expert, it's a widely used antidepressants drug, also used to treat panic disorder. If you want, you can read more about it here.

About medication in general I would always recommend getting all the information you can from your doctor, specifically knowing their side effects.

Anyways, I'm really happy for you that this step is already behind you and that you making great progress - keep in touch and let me know how these work for you.

Warm hugs,

Magic

Hi Amanda,

good luck with your treatment .

after you take your medicine... please press the 'caps lock' on your keyboard, it would prevent the rest of us from taking prozac, after each of your posts !
