In January 2007 Dr. Michelakis published a report on DCA and it's anti cancer properties in lab rats.

Now Health Canada has approved a clinical Pahse 2 study of DCA on about 50-100 terminal cancer patients.

Whats unusal about this is that no pharmaceutical company will support or fund the research because they can't make money from it. Federal funding agencies like the NRC and the Canadian Breat Cancer Foundation have taken a similar stances, only funding drugs that pharmaceutical companies approve of.

Dr. Michelakis appears to be laying the framework for other researchers to raise funding for other studies involving less profitable potential cures big pharmaceuticals won't fund. Which is almost as daunting a task as fighting cancer. So far they have raised over $800000 through personal donations, circumventing the pharmaceutical companies and federal funding agencies.
