My friend has breast cancer. Her doctor insists on chemotherapy.

From what we know, chemotherapy kills active cells and doesn’t allow them to grow, it doesn’t sound very good. Also, the side affects are horrible: nosebleeds, to lack of energy, infections etc’.

Many websites have posts on breast cancer and chemotherapy, most of them say that it is no longer in use, and that doctors switched to using pin pointed treatments instead.

Can one of the doctors here tell us what to do?

Thanks

Hello Pink,

I'm not a doctor (not sure if there are doctors in this forum, looks more like patients). But I do know a little about the subject.

As far as I know, chemotherapy is being replaced by (as you said) ‘pinpointed treatments’, however it is still and by far-off the most used to date.

Unfortunately there are many more side effects of chemotherapy. Hair loss, being sick all the time, and more.

I hope your friend survives this in great shape.

Ernesto
