Hello! My name is Jon Maas and I'm producing a TV show named "Mystery ER" for the Discovery Health channel. We're doing an episode on Guillain-Barre and were hoping to get some of your expertise -- more specifically a recommendation for stories.

In this show based on interviews and re-enactments, a patient comes in to the ER with mysterious symptoms -- and the ER doctor can not figure it out.

So what are we asking for? We're hoping for a story that:

* Involves the ER

* Has an extended mystery -- ie it takes the doctors awhile to figure it out

Let me know if any of you would like to share a story with me! We're on a deadline, so please e-mail me and/or call me directly.

Hi Jon- I just emailed you, but in case you get to this first...here's my story:

I was sick during Christmas for about a week. We flew to Florida to visit relatives anyway.Diahrea, aches and pains. Didn't think anything of it. By Dec. 29 I was better. Bike riding and going to the beach. Came back home to NJ and about Jan. 2, my legs were achy. Thought I overdid the bike riding. Went to work, and felt weakness in my hands. Finally collapsed walking up stairs. Called Dr. Went to ER. They thought I had a blood clot(plane trip, sick in bed). Ultrasound also showed "something". Turns out to be GBS(chicken salad?). I understand I am very lucky. Diagnosis was relatively quick and I am getting better with physical therapy. Good luck to all.
