Hello - being new to the site; I'm wondering if anyone out there has lingering disabilities associated with GBS. I was diagnosed/hospitalized in Nov. 05. I managed to work through May of 06 but have not been able to since. I'm having terrible trouble with my SS Disability Claim which is nothing compared to the "relapses" I constantly experience. Muscular/joint pain, weakness and extreme fatigue. I "recovered" from the severe/rapid onset of GBS but in late 06/early 07 began experiencing frequent spells/relapses with severe pain in my muscles and joints then the unbearable weakness and fatigue. Sometimes the relapses last for months. So having begun a recovery, I think it has stopped and probably worsened in the past eight months. An out-of-state move puts me out-of-reach from my original doctors and now I'm facing new doctors/new plans and nothing to explain what's happening. A blood test finds me slightly deficient in vitamin D and the next test suggested was an EMG (? - nerve damage assesment w/shock & needles, whoo hoo). I'm struggling to find any support from either the new medical docs or anyone out there who hasn't fully recovered or successfully "fought" through a SS Disability Case w/GBS.... So, anyone out there with similar or related issues? Thanks take care.
