I have NEVER found anyone with my condition before. I am so excited to share my story and find out about your stories. We seriously need to get information from each other!

I was 18 when I finally went to the doctor about not beginning my period. Mom and I both knew something was wrong before then, but were sort of in denial and thought I might just be a "late bloomer". After ultrasounds, blood tests, and some more blood tests, I finally ended up with a fantastic reproductive endocrinologist. I was diagnosed with "streak ovaries" and she recommended I have them removed since they weren't doing anything and could potentially be "breeding grounds" for tumors.

I did have my ovaries removed and went on hormone replacement therapy. It caused me to break out very badly, so my doc recommended I take birth control pills instead. SO, ever since then I have been on birth control pills (Ortho tri-cyclen since it mimics a natural cycle with three different levels of hormones).

I have since lost track of that doctor due to a move and change of insurance. I'm not really sure where I go from here. I have heard my chances of getting pregnant with in vitro is lowered because of my gonadal dysgenesis. This has helped my husband and I decide to adopt, as we are afraid to invest too much money in in vitro and then not have enough to adopt.

Any stories of in vitro working for someone with GD would be great. If I know it can happen, I would be willing to try.

My main question for all of you is: What is your story? Also, What do you take for hormone replacement? Is anybody NOT on HRT? What sort of plan has your doctor recommended for follow up once you are diagnosed? Do you have any routine blood work or checkups other than regular Pap smears?

Thanks for listening and I can't wait to hear some responses and other stories.
