MDJunction to me

jenniferdiva"MDJunction has been just an amazing support for me. The people who are on mdj are so nice! Unlike the many other support sites that I have been on. I have made several friends on mdj who are so supportive and so educated about mental illness. Of course non of us are doctors, but we certainly offer each other hugs, opinions, and advice. I have learned a great deal from my friends on mdjunction. I am also encouraging other people who suffer from mental illness to come on to MDJ. It can be a life line." (jenniferdiva)

Well...my name is Kenzie. I am 18 years old.

Only recently (about 5 months) I have been noticing my acid reflux a lot.

It is starting to get to the point that it makes me cry. *pathetic* I have seen my doctor about 6 times about this sort of issue. I have digestive issues too, so it sucks, but this GERD sucks a lot.

I do drink like 1 or 2 sodas a day, but I also drink about 78 oz of water a day. I don't eat out (fast food) regularly, maybe once every 2 months. I rarely eat spicy foods. I feel like everything brings on my acid reflux. Everyday around 4pm it gets 10x worse. It feels as if it settles right under my throat. It's hard to breathe, it burns, and it makes me feel like I'm choking sometimes when I lay down. I'm seeing my doctor AGAIN Tuesday, but this time to ask her to refer me to a specialist that is down the street.

I hope this will get cleared up soon :/ this sucks...a lot.

Thanks for reading heh.

Thanks. Those don't help?? Yikes D: Ugh I hate it so much. I get it everyday and it's so frustrating. I feel okay. These past few days it been making me choke a lot, like while breathing. I feel the acid and bits of food are like right at the top on my esophagus and it makes me like choke. I'm loosing all hope in my doctor, all she ever says is "take these antibiotics and you'll feel better" umm okay..no. It's been bothering me. It's been one problem after another after another. This has been the most frustrating out of ALL of my problems. The gerd and my digestive whatevers. *rant moment*. Sorry hahahaha.

Thanks again hahaha. BTW. How are you feeling?

Kenzie

I would say antibiotics will not help the actual reflux. I would think of finding a different doctor if this is all she is willing to do after so many visits. She should at least give you some sort of acid reducing medication to see what that does. This is not good for your esophagus. I hope you find some relief SOON! Good luck!
My medical information:
PVC's
GERD
Back pain-possibly L5/S1 herniation
Oligomenorrhea/Amenorrhea
Possible PCOS
Possible Rheumatoid Arthritis
Restless Leg Syndrome
Seborrheic Dermatitis
Some OCD/Anxiety tendencies.

Hi Kenzie,

I agree with aflower, you should be getting better treatment for the GERD. If your PCP isn't willing to do something besides antibiotics (which most likely won't do anything), then you should get a referral to a GI specialist.

The GERD can do some serious damage to the esophagus, so you have to be very careful and proactive.

When you get a chance, let us know how you are feeling and if you have seen a different doc. Smile
