MDJunction to me

jpcrps"When I found MD Junction, I was in the beginning stages of RSD/CRPS. I was scared, lacked knowledge about the condition, and felt very alone.

MD Junction changed all of that for me. I found friendship and terrific information from people who had first-hand knowledge of this syndrome. It was and still is a big part of my life.

MDJ was my first step on the journey of grief; from denial to acceptance. I am now inspired to help others by sharing this amazing site and sharing my own experiences. I am very impressed that one forum site can provide hope and inspiration to people suffering from so many different conditions. I am proud to be a part of this community.

Sad Hello. I am 56 yrs. old. Mom of two children. I have been married to my husband 30 yrs. He was diagnosed with cancer 3 yrs. ago and isn't doing very good. I am stressed beyond belief! I had scopes done 4 yrs. ago, I have severe Acid reflux, hiatal hernia, and IBS. I pretty much have a messed up digestive system. From the time I put something in my mouth I pretty much feel its journey. But I have to say in the last few months I am having food stick in my chest. At least thats what it feels like? I am miserable. My stomach hurts too. I am having a scope done this upcoming week. I am terrified. They are doing both ends. I wonder if its my hernia acting up or the Gerd? Just want to know if there are those out there having the same issues? Thanks for listening.

I'm an Advocate

Hi jojo,

I can't really say I feel exactly the same thing now, but I've sorta felt that before. I have GERD and IBS, so I've been in the same situation. I hope that you don't have any problems with the scope. I know that my doctor didn't want to do both ends at the same time, because they were taking biopsies, and he didn't want to have any complications. He said if there were any, they wouldn't know which one had caused them... I'm not sure if you are having biopsies done, so perhaps if not, it won't be a big deal?

I have had esophageal stenosis, which is a narrowing of the esophagus, and I had my esophagus widened when I had my upper endoscopy. If you are having any choking symptoms, perhaps that is part of your issue as well?

I hope you will find someone else who can relate to you and who understands what you're going through. I'm sure others understand the situation...

Good luck on your endoscopy.

*hugs*

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Hi jojo,

Welcome to the group, we are very happy that you found us.

I too have severe Acid Reflux/GERD and IBS, although I do not have a hiatal hernia. I am on medication for the GERD so it's pretty much under control. However, I let it go on for so many years that it has caused a condition called Barrett's Esophagus. I have to be scoped periodically to make sure all is okay.

There are times that I feel like the food I'm eating is stuck in my chest and sometimes in my throat. Are you on any medications for the GERD?

I hope all goes well with the endoscopy, please let us know how it turns out. In the meantime, keep posting and we will continue to support you how we can.

Again, welcome to the group and we look forward to getting to know you better.

Hi JoJo,

Just wondering how you are doing? We haven't heard from you in a while.

How did the endoscopy go? What were the results? When you get a chance just let us know how things are going. Hope to hear from you soon.

I know I had both ends done two months ago, its pretty much a breeze...

I get scoped every 6 months and each time they widned my esophagus so food will go down easier for me. But then I also had the nissen for all of this, so I have to get scoped every 6 months...

When they did that nissen they also wrapped my hiatal hernia so it would not grow, so far so good.

That lump feeling is awful just awful...

I have learned to do the following:

After each bite I take when eating a big meal, I wash it down with warm water, it really helps. I have learned to eat slow very slow. I also take small bites of food. If the lump feeling comes back, I drink more warm water, some reason it really helps a lot.

Also Black licorice helps with the gerd/heartburn/acid. I eat a lot of that...

Best of luck

Julie
