MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunny_fly)

[i]I have GERD and gastroparesis, and am insullin resistant.

The suggested diet for GERD is:

    No chocolate

    No caffeine

    No mint

    No carbination

    No spicy anything

    Limit tomato/garlic based stuff

The suggested diet for Gastroparesis is:

    Pro carb and soft food.

Stay away things that take a long time to digest (i.e. raw vegetables, high fiber food, oats/bran, red meats, etc) because they just "sit" on your stomach and don't move out and can cause what's called a bezoar (a mass from things that don't digest - a hairball is a bezoar in a feline). In humans, bezoars require either surgery for removal or a GI specialist to sedate the patient and take a probe down their throat to break it up and remove it that way.

Suggested diet for insullin resistance is:

Low carb, high protein, and high fiber (pretty much a diabetic diet).

So what I've gathered from all of this is I can pretty much only eat Jello-water and air!

Anyone a nutritionist? Or know one? Any suggestions?

Help!

The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible.

I am having the same questions right now. I have GERD so have the same food restrictions, plus we have milk protein allergies, soy sensitivities, corn allergies, and now I suspect gluten is the biggest culprit of all. I am also insulin resistant. I also have Dishidrosis & VPS (& many, many other things) that leave me further restrictioned from acidic foods and oxalates, too. It is very distressing, and I am fighting to learn what I can eat anymore without having issues. Every time I think I have one thing figured out, there's something else!

I wish I had some answers for you, or advice, but I am still feeling this all out myself. I just wanted you to know though that I feel your pain!!!

I wish I had the answers for both of you, but I don't. I think a lot of it is what the doctors suggest but also trial and error. I'm beginning to have problems again and finding out that there are more foods that I can't eat and it really frustrates me. If I find out more info on nutritionists, suggestions, etc. I'll be glad to pass it on to you.

Hi sthrngrace,

How are you feeling? Have you found foods that you can tolerate? I'd be very interested to know what foods you've been eating and able to do okay with. When you have a chance, could you let us know?

I have found herbal teas help me. Eating plain toast or saltines when you feel bad seems to help also. Hope you come back and let us know how you are?
