Hello

I am a 57 yr old married female from Michigan, was just diagnosed with Gp as a result of a Gastric Emptying Scan; I'm already battling Barrett's Esopahgus and GERd, now this.

Is there any particular diet to follow or do you just make up one that works for yourself, much like Barrett's?

I'm so lost and confused with this, I have 24/7 bloating, discomfort/pain, nausea at times, get full really quick then miserable til the next day. Then it starts all over again.

Hope someone has something to share.

Thank you

Wendy

God bless

I was diagnosed 2 yrs. ago. I eat low fiber and low fat. I also take domperidone that helps me digest my food. Tray and eat smaller meals and drink lots of water. Finding the right doctor is key!!! Good luck!!!

Send Private Message to me.

Agree with above: finding the right doctor is key. I'll tell you my contact info via private message so your doctors can get in touch with me. I wish every one of you could come to Pittsburgh, but I know you can't. So we can communicate with your doctors instead.

It doesn't do any good to find a good doctor that I can not get to. I am changing my GI doctor after I get my EGD scope done this month to check on the Barrett's condition and hoping no dysplasia....Thank you for your interest.

I don't think it does any harm to listen to someone who is willing to give you suggestions however. It's online and you don't have to leave your PC. I know how easy it is to get down when we're so sick ALL the time. Give this doctor a try. They don't have to become your physician but they can have some helpful suggestions and best of all, you're not being charged. I've taken a bunch of small suggestions from people on here and used them. Sure...none of them were life changing but every single one of them made my life a little easier and when you're as sick as we are, it's sometimes all we can ask for (sadly). I wish you all the best.
I am not a medical doctor. Anything said on here is my personal opinion. Seeking help from a health professional is always for the best!

** I have a broad knowledge about psychoactive medications and the mind since I have studied psychology/therapy. Any information that I give concerning any medication is to be considered generic since everyone reacts slightly differently to any foreign substance. I do not fully know your health history/case. Any suggestion that I made which peaked your interest MUST be discussed with your doctor. Do NOT change your medication intake based on any information which was not provided by your doctor. All that we can offer on MDJ is suggestions to discuss with your physician.

Unfortunately, I did not find any medication to help with my gastroparesis. I keep a low fiber, mainly liquid diet. I drink naked juice smoothies with protein powder, baby food, soups, Muscle milk light, things like this. You have to make sure you are getting enough protein and vitamins in your liquids though so you don't feel even more weak and ill. When I feel like I can handle it, I have an easy to digest solid once a day. Usually carbs like white bread and white rice. Never brown rice or whole grain bread because they are very high in fiber and hard to digest. Remember to keep your fat in food on the lower side. Rule of thumb: about 1g of fat per 100 calories or else it might be to rough to digest. I hope this helps!
