Welcome to the group Smile

One thing we always tell new members, and those who have recently had surgery, you really need to stop weighing yourself. I had surgery 2 years ago and I only got weighted every 3 months on my check up appointments with the consultant and at no other times.

Your body is going through a massive change, you will retain water, you will go up and down like crazy for the first couple of months. It will turn into an obsession if you keep weighing yourself and soon, you will end up doing it every day.

Just dump the scales, keep to your eating plan and wait. I promise the surgery works, it's less than 1% of all surgeries that don't.

STOP!! PUT YOUR HANDS UP AND STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!!!! Smile

Seriously, it's only 2 weeks, and you've already lost 25 lbs. This is way to early to be checking your weight. Save your next weigh-in for the doc's office. If you must insist on weighing yourself, limit yourself to once a week--same day, same time, same outfit (naked?). If you find you can't handle that mentally, just as Sophie said, ditch the scale and let your doc do the weigh-ins.

You will have ups and downs. You will plateau. Just trust that as long as you are following your doc's instructions, you will be just fine. Everyone is different, so don't try to compare your loss (or lack of) to anyone else. There are so many factors that play into how fast we lose.

When is your follow-up appointment?

Max and Jusbeachin said it perfectly. I too was on this page two weeks out because my wieght loss stopped for two weeks and got the same advice and they were 100% right. YOu will lose the weight as long as you stick to the diet.

i lost weight so fast after surgery it scared my family. i weighed myself three times a day for the first year and a half. I can look in the mirror today and still see that fat guy staring back. i lost 110 lbs got down to 163 lbs at 6 ft tall. I was going to drop to 150 cuz i still looked fat to me. wife took photos of the back yard with me in shorts no shirt. i was amazed at the anarexice looking man in the photo. my ribs stuck out joints were big and backbone was showing. at that time i went on the weight gain programe. got to 175 took photos and now i stay there i weigh once a week now instead of three times a day. I know we all want to loose a ton of weight but remember one thing to much is just as bad as to little. you will go up and down with water so dont sweat it. the weight will come off just hang in there soon you will be years down the road from surgery and feeling years younger.

Congrats wildwes! I still see the fat girl, too. I have a friend that I only see once a month or so and she's in charge of letting me know when I start to get too thin. lol I trust her implicitly and know that she would never tell me that out of jealousy--she's completely honest with me. Just goes to show that losing the weight doesn't fix the mind. This is a lifelong process of changing.
