Has anyone developed a hernia at an incision site after WLS? I have a bulge in my abdomen and I am going for a contrast cat scan on 9/6 but I was just wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this.

I haven't heard of that, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. How long has it been since your surgery? I don't even know what a hernia feels like. My son had one and didn't even know it, but another guy I know had one and it was super painful. I hope you're not in any pain and that they can take care of you so you can finish healing.

Let us know how the scan goes. (((HUGS)))

I am not a Doctor. My advice is purely my opinion and should be regarded as such.

ive had 4 hernias repaired and 1 present now, thats not treatable. all within 6 years of roux-en-y. 1 was at the navel, 1 was internal, 1 on each side of groin and now a hiatal hernia. speaking from expierence, do not ignore any pain or anything unusual. good luck and be carefull!

Thanks, justbeachin, I will let you know, it only hurts occasionally, it's like a baseball sticking out of the right side of my abdomen. I had my surgery June 28th, 2011. @ billpayer1, I'm sorry to hear about all your troubles, I am having a cat scan in 4 days so hopefully that will tell the Dr what he needs to know and he can fix me.

Have you had any updates on this hernia?

I still have my hernia, just went to my surgeon on Thurs. and he said he'd prefer I lost some more weight before he fixes it so guess it's going to be with me until next year some time.

Oh right, ok, yes that does make sense. I think they prefer to repair them when as much weight has been lost as possible, so it will ensure the repair doesn't fail. Hopefully, any pain or discomfort can be kept as low as possible until it gets done
