I am new to the group. My name is Dee. I had my surgery April of last year 2008 I was 400 pounds now I am down to 175 pounds. When I had my surgery I had a support group I could go to. But my husband and I had to move to Michigan to help our daughter.

No doctor will take me cause they did not do the surgery and if I want to go to a support group I have to pay $200.00 a year just to go. But when I had the surgery in Arizona the support groups were free and they were not even conected to the doctor at all. I so want to find a support group so I can go to. Well

I am 55 years old and a wife to a wonderful husband that is a great support to me. I am a grandmother of 4 beautifull children.

I enjoy making friends and getting out of the house now.

So that is a little about me.

Dee

Welcome to the group, Dee. I don't know what area of Michigan you are in, but that's where I live and I know of two support groups that are free of charge. I haven't had my surgery yet, I'm hoping for October or sooner.

Good luck!

I live in Lincoln Park, just outside of Detroit. How are you doing your followup care if none of the doctor's will take you? Until you can find something close, keep posting to this group.

Good luck and you can send me a PM anytime.

I do have a general doctor who will be willing to get my blood test done to see to it. And to make sure all my levels are good but I am not sure if he knows what they should be. Or even how to read the test results. So I am concerned.

I am loosing still I am down to 175 now from 400 to start off with.

If you know any one in the support groups there that may know where a free support group is please let me know.

Thank you for talking to me. I miss having someone to talk to.

Dee

Welcome to our group. I know it can be hard to find the support groups out there. I can't find any close to me either. So , I found this group and I tried to be very active in this group as well as others. I am not sure about age differences when we all been through the same thing. It is lovely that you have such a wonderful family. Good for you and see you around in the group.

Welcome

I was kinda wondering if you have tricare insurance. I have had some trouble with doctors taking it. As far as your doc goes, I wouldn't trust them unless they are at least an Internal Medicine. Family docs are never thorough and always want to try to do stuff theirselves or diagnose you with a common problem even if you have nothing resembeling it. Anyway, I'll get off my soap box now. You can search online for gb support groups in your area or even if you cant find anything or you just want to, you can do online groups or go to oa. I hope i didnt offend anyone but I have heard of people going to oa rather than paying for a doctors support group. anyway I hope I was of some help.
