hello everyone. i am so glad that i found this group. i had my surgery on may 31 and have been home since june 2. had a rough couple of days in the hospital. luckily i had two really good friends for support. i am really struggling with getting enough liquids in on a daily basis. i am definitely not drinking enough. i have started the full liquid diet today a day early but i am hungry. how did anyone get past the hunger pains? are they even hunger pains or is it just my mind taking over? had a few spoonfuls of cream soup this morning and started feeling sick so i stopped. i am very frustrated with this whole process. i guess i knew it would be like this but i guess i didn't expect it to be so hard. don't know what i thought it would be like. i feel very alone.

Hi Jenn, I had the sleeve surgery on 5/23/12. I just stayed one night in the hospital. The first week I lived on ice pops, chicken broth, jello, lemom tea and Isopure. The Isopure has 40 grams of protein. My Dr. also recommended Unjury. That stuff is gross, but now that I'm eating lentil soup and mashed potatoes I add a little to it. I'm still drinking the Isopure and have added Slim Fast Low Carb Drink. The Slim Fast has 20 grams of protein. I drink alot of water. I have also been walking alot. The first few days were uncomfortable, but by day 4 I was able to sleep on my stomach. The sleeve surgery is less invasive only requires 5 small incisions. My weight loss won't be as rapid, but I lost 25 lbs in 2 weeks. I think alot of it has to do with the walking - plus I'm only consuming 700 - 900 calories per day. It will get easier and you will be glad you did it. I had my doubts the first few days too!

Hi Jenn,

I struggle still with getting all my liquids down. I had my gb on 04/18/12

I would not have anything creamy yet it may be too soon for you. You may also be a little lactose intolerant after surgery. I ate blue menu ministrone soup that was blended. That helped me feel nourished. Also if ur not a big water drinker I used beef or chicken broths it gives you something with flavor. Everyone's progress and what they can tolerate is different. Now I can eat just about anything I want and then some days I can bearly eat at all I feel like things are blocked I get heavy in the chest. So I can say it even varries from day to day with myself. Just take one day at a time things will improve and you are not alone this sight has lots of people with good advice and support.

I just posted your answer on Faith's question. You both have the same issue ... everyone has this problem at first. Check out my answer to her and insert your name. April is right, we are all different and tolerate different things at different times. It's not easy, but it does get better. Your brain will need some time to wrap around this.

Oh, try some sugar-free popsicles, yummy and help with fluids. Smile

I am not a Doctor. My advice is purely my opinion and should be regarded as such.
