Well, today marks 1 month since my surgery. It was difficult for the first couple of weeks but seems alot easier now..so far.. I got on the scale today and was excited to see I have lost exactly 30 lbs!! I was wondering though when the weight loss will taper off...I am a little scared. Anyone who is further along than me have any advice or anything you want to share?

My doctor tells all his bypass patients that they will lose 75% of their access weight in the first year. He was accurate for me. I lost 102 at the nine month mark and then hit a super long plateau (another 9 months) then lost another ten pounds (last Dec). I've plateaued again since then but no complaints really. I went from 263 to 149 in less than two years.

Congrats, Daizy! Smile You will have several plateaus as you lose the weight. Some will be longer than others and will even drive you crazy. I used to plateau about every 20 lbs. I hit 100 lbs lost at exactly one year.

And, in the last 6 months lost another 20 or so lbs. I've exceeded my goal, so I don't worry too much about my plateaus. I tend to fluctuate in a 5 lb range between 150-155. I think that's a good range to maintain.

1 Month Surgiversary - make sure you take a picture of yourself and write down your measurements. Compare to your before stuff and you'll be amazed! Great work! Smile

I am not a Doctor. My advice is purely my opinion and should be regarded as such.
