Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group

--I have undergone gastric bypass (over 5yrs. ago), and thyroid radiation…and my body is shutting down.

--IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP ME??? I am on my fourth iron infusion session, so far this year. I still have three months before the year is up. Each session is usually four, weekly sessions, of Venofer. It’s given to me at the Infusion Center. This last session the blood specialist said he had to see me, because he had NEVER met anyone who has had to have this many infusions within a year. The session, I am undergoing now is five weeks. .Among all of the infusions, I have had to have a blood transfusion too.

--My body will NOT absorb anything. There have been many tests done and I have even swallowed a camera to see if there is any internal bleeding. All the results have come back…no bleeding. Now they’re telling me that I have to have an Endometrial Ablation (burning of the inter uterine lining). I am very scared and frustrated.

Is there a hospital somewhere near Northern Minnesota, that anyone knows of that could possibly help me?..or anywhere really?

I'm sorry you are having such troubles, Elizabeth. Have you seen a hematologist? I hope someone on the board can help you out. Hugs and healing thoughts coming your way!

I can't offer you any reasonable advice. Hemotologist is the first place I would go. Isn't the Mayo clinic in MN? They are so cutting edge most of the time. As a last ditch thought; try Dr. Oz. His people have such a vast spectrum of doctors and specialists to choose from. Their producers are always looking for "interesting" cases to showcase for the show; maybe this would be intriguing enough for them.
