Hi everyone, My name is Cheryl and I would just like to know what people's calorie intake is a year after surgery. I'm 5'9 and I have a feeding tube so I get 1400 calories from that daily plus what I eat is another 800 to 1600 a day so getting a total of about 2200 to 3000 calories a day and still can't gain weight. Doctor said the feeding tube at 1400 cal. should be enough but it's not. Please just help me out by letting me know your calorie intake daily. Thank you so very much. Cheryl

You and I are in the opposite position; I am still trying to lose weight. I take insulin twice a day which counteracts a lot of my efforts. I eat approx 1200 cals a day. I should be losing but I'm not. I also work out (light to medium) 3-5 days a week.

There's another lady in this group having the same problem as you. In fact, your stories are so similar, I thought maybe I was reading an old post! Everyone is different, but it doesn't seem as common to lose too much weight. How much do you weigh now? Are you unable to eat enough calories, or are you trying to stop the weight loss? Cut down on your exercise, try some of weight gain powder from your local fitness store, or try Ensure drinks.
I am not a Doctor. My advice is purely my opinion and should be regarded as such.

I doubt your issue is number of calories. Usually, it's to do with the foods you're eating and your bodies way of processing the intake.

A friend of mine is now 2 years post surgery and is still losing weight. She only eats high calorie food now to try and reverse the issue but it's not working. She is trying to potato chips, drinking cream from the pot...no effect.

With most people, 12 to 18 months is when the weight loss will ease down, so you might be lucky and it should slow down around now.

If not, then the dr will look at other things to do which can help you, including some high calorie drinks you can have, they taste a little like a milk shake but contain no fresh milk. In extreme cases, they reverse part of the surgery to stop the weight loss continuing
