Yesterday I visited my primary doctor. The GB doctor requires a letter of support from my primary to move forward with the GB. Primary doc says he has had many patients with this surgery (Rouen-y) and 75% of them gain the weight back. He says only 1 of his patients with the lap band has lost any significant weight. His thoughts are that if I do this surgery I will gain the weight back anyway, so why go through surgery all of which carry some risks. He wouldn't provide the letter yesterday. He referred me to one more doctor (an orthopedic surgeon) about my feet and said that if that doctor says there's nothing he can do for me, then he would reluctantly write the letter. I really like and trust my doctor. I've been with him for 20 years and he has been very supportive and wonderful for me during that time with a variety of other issues. How much truth is there in what he says? It's hard to find statistics on failure rate because those can be manipulated and the people who hang out in the support groups tend to be the ones who are working their programs and who are successful. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks you. Tongue Cool Smile

I don't know what to say I'm not a dr so I can't even begin to advise you but I can say from my own experiance that if you exercise with the food changes the weight comes off. Gastric-bypass is a tool to help you lose the weight not a cure you have to be willing to use it properly or you will end up hurt. I hope this helps. Laughing
I can be your friend, I can be your confidant, we could be like blood in closeness. But i CANNOT be you. you must make your own decisions. some will be good, some will be bad. but I will never leave until you push me away.
