Well, I had my surgery exactly 6 months ago. I have done really well physically, except with the 2 week bout of diarhhea. Mentally, I do continue to struggle a bit. For some reason I still can't see the weight coming off, but I do my best to trust people and their views.

So weight breakdown.

Start Weight - 354lbs

After liquid diet/day of surgery - 326lbs

After 6 months - 226lbs

So on paper I see I have lost a considerable amount of weight, but it's just not enough. I feel like I want to just wave a magic wand and be at my goal weight of 160lbs. Is this a realistic goal? Will I ever lose that much weight?

Well, to all those just getting the surgery GOOD LUCK. Hang in there, things get better every day.

Cheers!

What wonderful progress! I'm having a hard time keeping with an exercise program. Some days I walk some days I don't. Can't blame the weather though, it's been beautiful the last few days. I'm just blah today and not motivated. I know I'm not going to have the results I hope for if I don't get off my backside and start moving more. I wouldn't say I'm depressed.....just lack something. Do you ever have days like this?

I can relate completely. There are days I walk a mile, others I'm lucky if I walk at all. I know I won't reach my goal weight unless I to get off my back side, but there are times I just feel blah.

I do however maintain my 600 calories a day, and really watch my calories, sugars, and carbs. I really battle with eating, or not eating enough. There have been times that I only eat rice cakes with a bit of peanut butter on them. But, I figure I'm getting something in the sense of protein.

How about you? What do you eat daily? I figure if I watch what I eat, maybe not exercising won't be so much of a problem.

Cheers!

Hi- I am not sure if wanting to get to a certain weight when you are first starting out to worry about it. You still have 4 months of primary wieght loss time. Around 18 months out you will generally stay at the same weight for a while. Some people gain back some wieght around this time too. I gain 20 lbs at that time and amonth and a half later I lost 40 lbs. Everyone is different according to what specific persons situation. Just give it some more time and keep on eating little bit of what you are able to eat. You should be ok. CappyTongue

That's amazing. You sound like you are doing really well. Tell me you can tell the difference in your clothing. I know I feel the same from day to day. I live in this skin daily so I don't "see" the difference. Back in Oct, at my 4 month mark, I went to visit my mom (out of state). She had some pants to give me and I put them on, they fit and I wore these three pair of pants over the weekend. I left them there for when I go visit. When I returned home she asked me how it felt to wear a size 16. I was agast. I had been wearing size 26 for years. I didn't realize I had gotten down to a 16. I didn't believe her. I thought it was one of those situations where the designer decides to "re size" the clothes so people feel better about themselves. Well, I went to a local store and tried on a pair of size 16. I was shocked. Then two months later, I could slip into a size 14. So, I can only imagine you are finding these same changes. ????
