I finally got my clearances. Now the wait is intense. My tentative surgery date is 12/22/10. All of a sudden I can't stop eating. My emotions are all over the place. I am anxious, scared, happy, all in a single day. Today I'm jumpy. Don't know what to do with myself. Did anyone else feel like thisWink

I would have my moods, but I realized that I was an emotional eater and had to get a grasp on this once and for all. Focus on other things, bring out a book, get away from the tv if you were one to eat in front of the tv (or computer). Take a walk if you are physically able. Grab a glass of water or a glass of skim milk. Tell yourself you can have a snack if your dishes are done or you have vacummed. In other words, get busy and focus on something else for a short period of time.

Ellen; I cannot stress this enough....get into a group or counselling NOW. Your behavior will not change with the surgery, but you will suffer greatly if you don't get a new set of coping mechanisms.

I have had a moment or two of feeling "hungry" (it's hormones for me) and that is miserable when your stomach can only hold a few ounces. Thankfully, it passes for me.

I'm an Advocate

Hello- I am bipolar and I have major ups and downs. I see a therapist when necessary-at least twice a month to blow out all the issues that I have been dealing with. I have written in a diary and expressed my feelings. I also sing my moods to call me down. I do a lot of crafts to keep me busy and provide service to others that have a need. Change of focus helps too. Cappy

My surgery is in 6 days. This past Monday we admitted my daughter to the hospital because of a suicide threat. I've been running back and forth everyday for therapy sessions. I've been going to counseling for a couple months to work on my own head/food issues. I've still been really struggling with my food this week. Eating on the run. I'm supposed to be on 1400 calories a day. I'm getting scared about the surgery, worried about my daughter and feeling pretty overwhelmed.

Smookie, I can't imagine what that all must feel like. Know this; you won't be able to support or care for your daughter if you don't take care of yourself first. Best of luck and my prayers are with you also.
