I have very severe sleep apnea. I had surgery to correct it, however, it did not help. I have been told if I lose 100 pounds it may cure or greatly improve my sleep apnea. Is there someone else in this group with sleep apnea.

I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure and I am having gastric bypass surgery, I was told by both my doctor and my surgeon that more then likely once I lose weight I will not need medication and my sleep apnea should sub side, Now I don't have severe sleep apnea and I don't use my machine faithfully because I can't sleep with it on.....I am hoping it does go away when I start losing weight! Good Luck!

I am wondering what your weight is now and maybe is is still to much pressure on your chest or neck area. I did not look like I had a lot of weight on my chest or my neck did not look huge either. Yet here I was having trouble breathing while I slept. Now my hubby freaks out every once in awhile because he does not hear my snoring anymore or it does not seem like I am breathing. I am very quiet now. I hope this helps. Cappy

I presently weight 275 pounds. When I was between 200 and 225 I had very little problems with sleep apnea. I do have a large stomach and my neck is much larger now. I believe even 30 - 50 pounds will start to help

I think we are heading in the right direction. I hope that it gets better faster, but we don't have control. I send you all my thoughts of good health and look for your progress notes. Cappy
