Hi Trisha... YEP! I am about to get my last 24 teeth pulled and get a complete set of implants. At the expense of about $40,000!!!!! It's killing us, my husband just retired. At my age, if I got regular dentures, the bone would eventually shrink away to pretty much nothing and full dentures can only be relined so many times and then there is nothing to adhere the dentures to and I'm REALLY toothless. We are not sure why my teeth got so bad -- but my dentist is pretty sure he knows. When I go...

You are right, reprograming the brain is a challenge. I know the surgery will help with the food issue. The way we view ourselves I think is harder. Most certainly a challenge to be aware of, but will be a challenge I look forward to working through for the healthy new body.:)...

Make sure you take some photos before surgery. Also, take your measurements. It will be fun to look back at far you've come. And, it will help you see your results when you go through plateaus. :)...

It looks like we have a big group getting ready to have GBS next month!! Start up'ing your protein now and begin a Biotin supplement. I say this because by Halloween, you'll all be freaking out when your hair starts falling out. ;) (It's normal and it does grow back.)

I have family in Louisville! So glad that your doc recommended this website. This support group has helped me so much, that's why I stick around to help others. Take a look at our Pre-Surgery forum...it will answer a lot of your questions. Do you have a date yet?...

I'm so excited for you. I remember running a 5K, and I still think about it a lot. I loved it and I want to do it again. My surgery date is June 27, 2013 so I'm hopeful. I remember running the 5K and it was a nice warm day with a light rain. I was so happy for the rain because everyone couldn't tell how much I was sweating! It was fun. I have heard that some people get an addiction after weight loss surgery, and I want my addiction to be the love of exercise, as it sounds like yours is....

I always find it funny the things some people will say. You would never walk up to a fat person and say, hi fattie or a runner and say hi running junkie . Why do people feel like they have to call you skinny? I try to think of it in a positive way, they are trying to compliment you but they don't know how....

I'm so happy to hear you are now cancer free! :) Did your surgery require changes to your intestinal track like it does for gastric bypass? How much of your esophagus was removed? I hope I'm not being to nosy, I just don't know much about the procedure.

Some GBS patients have trouble with extreme nausea because the opening to their stomach pouch is too narrow. The fix is endoscopy and the doc can stretch opening a bit wider. Discuss this with your doctor, he/she may know what is causing...

I don't have a surgery date as yet. Next week I have my last pre-op consult for clearance. (The program I am in is excellent. There are a million steps to go through but I know that it's for the best as they work very hard to prepare you for not only surgery, but life after. Post-surgery you see not only the surgeon for follow up, but all of these other professionals for the first year or so.) I'm anxious to get to a surgery date. I've lost 21 pounds with just the changes I've made so far ...
