It depends on the stage. If cancer was only in gallbladder and gallbladder is removed theres no cancer.

A liver dissection should be done to make sure no cells have gotten into the liver however my mother did this and was cleared and the cancer slipped into the blood stream either before or during removal and we lost her within 3 weeks of finding this out. Gall Bladder cancer is as deadly as pancreatic cancer but rare effecting 660 people per year. There is no treatment if this happens and also no way to detect if it has happened. Let me know if you have other questions. My mother passed on March 1 2012 and was diagnosed in April 2013.

My father was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer in 2010

But is got just outside his gallbladder. Doctor was very confident . Also told me that

It was a very slow cancer. He died in 2011 but

Not from the cancer. He was put under anesthesia

And vomited into his lungs.

Our doctors were very confident too but neglected to tell us what can happen. We found out once we transferred to Mayo because we felt the Scottsdale hospital had not informed we'll and later found out the two MRI's she had(last one in December) there was clearly cancer however, the end result would have been the same. Most people pass within 1 year of being diagnosed and again it is undetectable once it travels through the bloodstream.
