If you are having problems persuading your doctor to prescribe Suboxone for your chronic pain, here is another suggestion. (Don't give up yet!!) Go to the following website:

http://suboxone.com/

Look for the blue "Find a Doctor Now" button on the upper right side of the screen. Enter your zip code and the mile range you are willing to travel to visit the doctor. After entering your information and clicking the "Find a Doctor Now" button, a list of doctors who prescribe Suboxone in your area will pop up. THEN, you will need to call each one in order to find a doctor who prescribes Suboxone for chronic pain management.

This was originally suggested by Lori (HAMPTON7026) in a previous thread in the regular MDJ fibro group. She found her "Suboxone" doctor using this method.

You're right, Carla. I think this is exactly how Lori found her doctor Smile

Also, it has a lot to do with trust. If your doctor trust's you and you go in there armed with imformation. (thank you Tina)lol Smile It will work... if he is that type of person and not the paranoid type.

My doctor had no idea about using that drug for fibro. He knew what the original use of it was for. He did not know anything about the low dose studies. I showed him the standford study and he said ok if that's what you want to try and gave it to me... THe only thing is, I don't feel comfortable asking him questions about mixing with other meds ect.. because he is not familiar with it.

I come on here and ask and ask the pharmasist.. But one about had a heart attack when she found out I was on norco also and the other one knew it was totally safe...So what I have been doing is trying to find the right cocktail for me. the Suboxone was not helping with the fibro symptoms.. so I started the Cymbalta (which I hated when I was on it before) but out of Lyrica, savella (I think that's what it is called) it's late... and cymbalta I decided to give it another chance. The only thing now is I sweat like a pig!!! totally drip when it is freezing...but other then that I found a pretty decent cocktail.. I take suboxone in morning and norco's if needed for neck and back pain and at night cymbalta and clozapan and if needed in middle night I take a suboxone (not often does that happen)

I am not pain free but it's to where I can do things most day's unless I get hit with fatigue and cymbalta has helped that. So I am better. And if I have a event or know I will be visiting or walking ect a long day I add a drink to make the norco stronger and it works...sssshhhhh.. hey, you do what works right?

Also the Cymbalta really has helped my depression. The best so far for that for me anyway. Tried all diffrent things for depression and cymbalta has been working well for that.

good luck all

and just find what work's for you

hug's and wishes for a pain-less tomorrow

Well, it certainly is all about finding what works for each of us. I'm glad that you have found a cocktail that works for you. I was on Savella for about 6 months, and one of my major symptoms was excess sweating. It was horrible!! I stopped it in October, and it still took about 3 months for the sweating to get a lot better. I still have some problems with it now, but it is better. Also it made my blood sugar harder to control, and that took 2-3 months to get back to normal. I didn't realize that Cymbalta caused the excessive sweating, too!!

Most of the time Suboxone controls my pain, but occasionally I have used 1/2 Percocet 10 for break through pain. (I don't believe that I've had to do that this year!) Tongue In January I had to increase my Suboxone 2mg from 2 times daily to 3 times daily - due to the cold and rain. My doctor hopes that I can go back to twice daily in the spring. I've actually had a few days recently when I've only had to take Suboxone twice daily!! Smile Unfortunately I still have my other fibro symptoms (other than pain).

You are so right about having a doctor who trusts you. That makes a lot of difference in whether he actually listens to you or not. I'm thankful that I found one like that!!

Gentle Hugs,
Carla
