mydragonfly,I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. I know how intensely difficult bi-polar can be. Just know that your friends here are here to listen and hlep in any way we can. {{ hugs }} I am only on 3 mg Flexeril and 2700 mg Gabapentin, I can't take narcotics because of the effect they have on me. I take Tylenol Extra Strength 200 mg 8 at a time and it doesn't work very good.

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.
A Native American Blessing

I take darvocet for the pain and it helps take the edge off. I have never found anything that completely gets rid of all the pain. I also have a problem of my body getting used to the pain meds and having to have my dr. change them. I have taken lorcet and vicadin both and built up a tolerance to where they didn't work anymore. I also take flexiril and some other things. but the darvocet is working now but not very well.

Let your doc. know that the Narco 10 is working and it helps the fibro pain too. Maybe they will keep you on them for a while. I don't see how people get by with no pain meds. I think they would find me in bed with my head covered up crying my eyes out most days if I had nothing to take.

I will let them know but they don't prescribe pain meds at the pain clinic I go to for Fibro. Thats why they will be fired once they are not treating my pain!!! I will then go back to my rhuemy who said Hydrocodones are good for Fibro and see if he will prescribe them to me.

so what do you do when you are at the end of your rope. i have tried one last doctor. he gave me viodin 5 4xaday but refuses to give me my other meds for my bi-polar, muscle spasms, my requip. I am telling you all right now that i will not make it till the end of june without all of my meds. the Vicodin dont work because its not enough but he seems to think i only want them to get high so i guess he will be surprised when i cant make my appointment due to death.

I'm on Percocet 7.5 and average 2 daily. I take as needed, but almost always need at least 1 1/2 - 2 pills daily. I have been taking these almost 1 year now. I talked with my doctor last year and told him that the Percocet seemed to work better for me than Lortab. Together we decided that I would try 2 daily, as needed, and adjust from there if I needed to do so. My doctor seems to be very understanding of the need for pain control. As far as I'm concerned, narcotics are the only pain meds that work for me - and no one can convince me differently. Each of us is the only one knows how our individual body responds to different medications, and it is a blessing to have a doctor who actually listens to my feedback.

About 5 years ago, I was in a tremendous amount of pain. It was a nightmare-ish period, and I don't remember everything clearly, but I was on Oxycontin 40mg plus other narcotics and Ultram (Ultram doesn't help me at all.) for break-thru pain (which I had lots of). Even when I was on all this pain medication, I still had a lot of pain.

I live in Alabama and heard about a doctor (Dr. Rodger Murphree) in Birmingham, who specializes in Fibromyalgia. About 2 months after beginning the FMS Starter Package (supplements) recommended by Dr. Murphree, I was able to gradually come off the Oxycontin and reduce my other pain meds. I contribute the reduced pain to 5-HTP and Fish Oil. Now I only take the Percocet and am actually pain free a good portion of some days - and have been for 3 years!

Gentle Hugs,
Carla

I am on oxycontin and Percocet for as needed and along with the many others...it seemd to keep the pain to a tolarable rate...some days are worse than other and then I take more percocet but a lot of day I may not even need extra just my long acting meds...so that is how I cope I am only on 10mg every 12 hours.
Hugs,
Barb

Norco is actually 10mg Hydrocodone and 325mg Tylenol combined. It's good for breakthrough pain when combined with Durogesic-Fentanyl Patches 25-100mg doses which you wear on your arm for three days and then replace. They work transdermally. This is the only combination of Meds that has worked and allowed me to function daily as a normal humane being. This was prescribed by a pain management specialist, which I highly recommend as they are not afraid to give you the help that most Fibro patients need and are up on all the best treatments because that's all they do. Never give up, keep fighting, If one Doctor won't help move on to the next. It took me 4 years to find help. There is a special place in Heaven for Mothers and Fibro sufferers.

Isn't it crazy that our docs now say that if you want pain meds then you have to go to a pain clinic. And at the pain clinic they tell you if you have FM - no pain meds allowed?

I guess they are all different. But that has been my experience.

I finally got the Norco/Vicodin prescription at the beginning of May. OMG! What a difference! I'm still in terrible pain. But it has allowed me to get showered and dressed almost every day. I've even cooked a few meals and can manage one chore a day, most days. It has made such a good change in my overall well being and comfort.

I know that if they would give me something just a little bit stronger that I may actually be able to function again. I wish these docs would wake up and get educated. They need to stop the suffering.
