I'm on Percocet 7.5 and average 2 daily. I take as needed, but almost always need at least 1 1/2 - 2 pills daily. I have been taking these almost 1 year now. I talked with my doctor last year and told him that the Percocet seemed to work better for me than Lortab. Together we decided that I would try 2 daily, as needed, and adjust from there if I needed to do so. My doctor seems to be very understanding of the need for pain control. As far as I'm concerned, narcotics are the only pain meds that work for me - and no one can convince me differently. Each of us is the only one knows how our individual body responds to different medications, and it is a blessing to have a doctor who actually listens to my feedback. About 5 years ago, I was in a tremendous amount of pain. It was a nightmare-ish period, and I don't remember everything clearly, but I was on Oxycontin 40mg plus other narcotics and Ultram (Ultram doesn't help me at all.) for break-thru pain (which I had lots of). Even when I was on all this pain medication, I still had a lot of pain. I live in Alabama and heard about a doctor (Dr. Rodger Murphree) in Birmingham, who specializes in Fibromyalgia. About 2 months after beginning the FMS Starter Package (supplements) recommended by Dr. Murphree, I was able to gradually come off the Oxycontin and reduce my other pain meds. I contribute the reduced pain to 5-HTP and Fish Oil. Now I only take the Percocet and am actually pain free a good portion of some days - and have been for 3 years!
