"I have fibromyalgia." (Deke)

MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunny_fly)

I got so fed up with Docs I actually made a list I used and pre-screened the offices first before booking the new Doc.

I'd ask things like

Does Dr. Quackenheimer treat patients with Fibro?

How many is he currently treating?

What is his general treatment regime?

etc. So far I'm happy with my new Doc. Should have the results back this week on the battery of new blood work the Rhuemy took last week, he is getting with my Doc, come to find out, these 2 know each other and work well together. There is another good question for the Rhuemy's, can you recommend a FIBRO treating Doc in my area?

Good Luck and I hope it works out for you. I don't get any pain or sleep meds...or panic/anxiety meds. But...I'm new with this Doc and had things that needed treated first.

Pamela {please}

I wish tons of love and hugs!

Quick update about that doctor and all the more reason I won't see her again. I had general bloodwork done by her including thyroid since I am so fatigued all the time. I also had a order for bloodwork for the doctor Hampton saw in Texas that I am going to next week. Two separate lab orders for two different doctors. The doctor in Texas was wanting to know my hormone levels.

Anyway I went to the lab that is connected with my insurance and had all bloodwork taking at the same time for both doctors. Apparently this doctor I complained about was also sent the results of the bloodwork the doctor in Texas wanted. So- I get a call from her office from a staff person there and she says to me "Dr. XYZ got resolutes today from a bunch of hormone test that were done. She wants to know who ordered those tests???" Said as if maybe I altered her order or did something underhandedly- I don't know.

All I said was "Oh you weren't suppose to get those. They were ordered by my fibro doctor- sorry for the mix up!" and I left it at that. That doctor saw I had fibro and didn't ask how I was doing etc as if I said "I occasionally get SUN BURN on her form. She didn't ask if I was taking any supplements and there was no where on her sheet to even write that information. (Even my gyn makes sure I am taking Calcium at my age.)

All it did was confirm to me that I won't be seeing that doctor again. I don't need to be babied because I have fibro but if a doctor sees that you have it and doesn't even say "How is it for you... how are you managing it etc.. They don't give a crap about people with fibro and they might even be of the mindset that it's all in your head.

Ok I've gone on long enought but I thought you'd like to know my instincts about her weren't wrong!!!!

Hi all...thought this was funny.... my General Practioner sent me to a Rhem for my fibro... that rhem was junk and never even gave me a ya or na on my fibro just put me on the Elavil....everytime I ask him about it, he ignores me and asks about my arthritis in my knee {like thats a bigger issue than fibro!} He won't even mention if he thinks I have it or not, but my Family dr does and is treating me for it... anyway, one day I was looking for some info on the web about fibro, when my Rhem name appears on a website for dr. specializing in fibro! I could not believe it! I just had to laugh at that one! :}

Ok I know some people have found good rheumys but I never have. Personally I am starting to wonder if their speciality is even being educated about it as if it is a real condition. I've seen about 4 none of which I would reccomend to anyone.
