Hi! I am new to this site and this is my first posting. I have 2 questions for everyone.

1) Has anyone found much success with Savella so far?

2) Has anyone been on opiates for pain and then gotten off of the opiates? If so, how did you do it and what did you use to help the pain through the withdrawal process and afterwards?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

Diane

Hi Diane ~~~

Welcome to our group ~~~ Smile

I have not taken Savella but we do have several here either taking it at present or that have tried it and couldn t tolerate the side-effects.

If you type Savella in the search box at the top right of this screen, it should bring up posts where we have discussed Savella.

I also have never taken an opiate so apologize that I cannot be of help with that question there either.

There are so many here fighting the bitter pain of Fibro ~~~ I m sure someone will be along before long and give you the information you re seeking. Smile

First of all welcome to the group! There are several threads on here about Savella. Just type savella in the search box and there are alot of threads that'll come up.

I haven't done the opiate thing either. I'm sure there's someone here who can help though.

Boy I wasn't any help. Sorry. Any way welcome to the group.

Diane,

I have taken Lyrica for over 1 year now and it works great for me. However, I know there are several here that couldn t take that either or that it didn t help their pain.

Welcome to our family. We're so glad to have you with us. I'm sorry that I'm not going to be much help either. I do take pain meds but I have other conditions so I'm on quite a few meds. I've never tried the other med, my doctor does not prescribe it for his patients as there are too many side effects in his opinion but I wouldn't be able to take it anyway.

I sure hope you will stick around, this is a wonderful group of people and you will find lots of support here. Most of the time you can even get your questions answered Tongue

As of now, nothing really. The cymbalta I'm taking is helping with the depression part but as far as pain....still looking.

Diane, welcome to our Wonderful World of Mighty Fibromites! I'm pleased to meet you.

Savella I decided not to try after so many people started reporting such bad side effects.

Instead, I tried something different, suboxone. It has completely kicked the pain aspect of my fibro.

Interestingly enough, it's a drug that is used to treat opiate addicts and alcoholics. Only when it's used for fibro, it's a very small dose.

My doctor actually did leave me on all of my other meds, including my vicodin. After about 4 weeks I had quit taking everything else, though, because the suboxone was working so well.

I have had to take some vicodin the last few days because my back was acting up. Issues unrelated to fibro.

I hope that you'll find what you need here in the group. Please do make yourself at home and post to your heart's content.

Newbie hugs, Tina

Hi Diane!

I have not tried Savella, but do take Soma and Vicadin. The SOma really helps my muscles when I get those terrible spasms.
