Hi All- yesterday I was reading some of the forum subjects: especially those regarding natural treatments. I know some members became frustrated because there are a number of opinions across the board as to what might help our fibromyalgia.

I think the frustration comes from this.... so many of us have tried a number of things to improve our health-a good number doing things they read about. I am one of those people. We spend a lot of money looking for help beyond the regular doctors at times because we become frustrated that our drugs only are covering symptoms.

WHY I think some people get fired up is we all know some things that are helping some people aren't helping us. For instance- most doctors even regular doctors encourage us to take magnesium. I do everyday and for a long time now. Personally I can't say it is making any difference however others report it is really helping them.

Somebody mentioned omega 3s- I take those too but can't tell you they are helping me either. I just know they are healthy for me so I take them. I take probiotics because my stomach is a mess. After years on it I can't say it is helping with my gut issues.

I get a lot of numbness and tingling so I tried iron- I felt crappy on it and it made no difference in my symptoms.

I hope you see a pattern here. The frustration of fibro is that what is helping one person may not be doing the same for another. That is why members become frustrated with those who say "this is the only answer to fibro"- especially if it was a treatment they tried and it didn't help them.

For some reason this condition is far too complex for most doctors to understand let alone treat. Or maybe our bodies- being as individual as they are- respond or don't respond to various treatments.

Our symptoms are unique as well so that throws another wretch in the mix. I DON'T for the most part have joint pain- I have flu achy pain all over.

From reading the forums we have a wide mix of what we are doing- only perscription drugs, supplements, acupuncture, colonics, juices, massages, the list goes on.

I think the best way to look at it is we are just here to give some advice as to what others might try.

At this point nobody's come up with one way that has CURED fibro that enough of us at least have tried and are reaping the benefits.

Probably the only thing we can say collectively is that STRESS makes fibro worse but that is the case with many ailments.

So let's learn from eachother and give advice without being pushy. We all can get defensive especially if someone is toting a cure that we already tried whole-heartedly which did not help us.

We ALL do research on this lovely thing called the web. Some good and some not so good information. We all want to feel better but the road to that may be as individual as we are as people:Blush

Well Meleggs,

If you need inspiration, maybe you should write an article about fibro and what all of us go through because you are very good with words. It seems that you could write up a good one and send it to as many places as you can.

Hugs

Meleggs, that was awesome, thank you very much for taking the time to address, I think that if we can give our advise and everyone just take what they need and leave the rest it will be a very positive experience for all of us. Hats of to us all! Kaze

Well that's interesting Thomasann. I've been thinking about how to reach the greater public about this condition. I have learned so much from this forum. There's a unique kind of suffering- if that is the right word/ at least it is for me- that we go thru. The fibro symptoms are hardly the biggest part. The main part- at least for me- is how it is misunderstood and the psychological ramifications we al struggle with because of that.

I think I struggle as much psychologically as I do physically. That is why the forum is a great place. "Somebody" finally gets it!!- even if we are just in contact on the computer.
