I was just wondering if you take this medicine because I read that it's used to treat fibromyalgia. I really hope the pain clinic doesn't make me try this because this is one thing I havn't tried yet, and everytime I have to take some antiseizure med I get so sick.

What do you think of this med?

I now am taking neurontin again. I took it about 2 years ago and it seemed to help for a while. My doctor put me back on it and it doesn't seem to be doing nothing for me.I still have the severe pain in my feet. I wonder if the doctors get a kick back.

I've never taken this medication, but I know people that do. Not for Fibro, but as a mood stablizer. My sister has bad anxiety attacks and they put her on this about 6 months ago. She does well with it, she has an anursym in an unoperatable part of her brain, they inserted a coil wire into it somehow and they put her on this to keep her from seizing, but it has also controlled her panic attacks. It is supppose to control the nervous system, so I would think as fragile as we are when it comes to our senses that this may be a good drug for fibro. Just recently being diagnosed I havent had my meds changed around much. Let me know if you try it and if it works for you.

I'm on Neurontin now...it upsets my stomach a little. But as for the pain,it takes the edge off...but it doesn't take the pain away.I have been in terrible pain this whole week,so bad that I was gonna go to the ER!So really,on my next appointment with my doctor,I'm gonna ask to be taken off of it.

HI I took Neurontin for about 3 yrs..... I can't remember if it was 3600 or 3800mg a day.... but I was never sure what it did for me ...but my doctor said i would have known if I had not been taking it....... But just so you know ..that Lyrica is only two molecules different from Neurontin so for the most part they really are the same drug....except the Patent ran out on Neurontin so there are now generic's for it...so the cost is much less so less profit in it....

Craig...

Well I can't take Lyrica because I have chronic dizziness and it made me so dizzy that I had to sleep sitting up. The dizziness made me terribly sick. I hope they dont put me on that stuff. I can't handle the way the Lyrica made me feel so I'm sure I wouldn't be able to handle this stuff. Just thinking about the Lyrica makes my stomach churn.

Early morning to you all I have taken Neurontin for over three years now since the beginning of the trial and error and testings, and the final diagnoses of my fibro in October of 2007. I am on 2400mg (generic form is Gabapentin by the way) Yes, Neurontin is a lot like Lyrica, however it is in a higher dosage then Lyrica and if Im not mistaken,Lyrica stays in your system longer. A few years ago Pfizer was sued for black labeling Neurontin for fibromyalgia and for other illnesses that were not FDA approved. I google searched teh drug name and found that it had side effects for depression and that there were law suits filed against Pfizer for suicide of Neurontin in fybromyalgia patients. Yes, It was originally intended for seizure patients as an anti-convulsant. I found this odd though in my situation. Since I have been on Neurontin (and I am no way a doctor and have no idea if this is linked to the medication or not), I have had what the neuroligists call unexplained "black-outs", and at night I tremor a lot in my sleep waking up sweating bad and I see an aurora followed by a terrible headache. Sometimes my husband says I shout out in my sleep. During the day when I get this dizzy feeling or zig zags and aura, I black-out or, stumble or fall. I had an abnormal EEG in February that showed seizure activity and is leading me to have a VEEG on April 22. Ive never had seizures before in my life.

Anyway I rambled way too long Im sure.

Gentle Hugs,

Annie

Yeah I take it every morning. I think that is what also contributes to my fatigue
