Doctors are trained to look for drug seeking patients, and to deny them.

So, if a patient really needs scheduled medication, how does one avoid being categorized as a drug seeker.

Seems like a catch 22 to me. What do you think?

First you have to be an established patient, which means you have to be seen for a number of months, etc. Also you have to have well documented medical evidence of what is causing you pain, so you have to go have CT scans, MRIs, or Xrays. Then if/when the results come back, the dr will slowly start writing scripts for you. Some drs at first will only give like 10 pills. They want to see how often you take them.

I am stating what I know from having worked at doctors offices for over 20 years. We have heard a lot of stories from patients that were definitely either addicted or just seekers, such as my pills fell into my hot tub, i had my purse on top of my car and my pills were in there and they all spilled out, i accidentally dropped my entire bottle of pills down the kitchen drain and more. So that is why they are afraid to prescribe.

I have heard one like I lost my pills at the airport, or my son stole them. We had one grandson that came in every third day that we changed his grandmothers pain patch and withdrew the medication from it. It took us about the third one to get wise to him and then he was arrested.

At our pain clinic they have had a man use someone elses urine and keep it warm in a baggie under his arm, and use tubing to act like he is voiding out of a prostetic penis to have a clean urine sample.

People are desparate. Yes, we are all drug seekers. I am a legal drug seeker. I have a prescription for all of the medication I a taking. My meds are monitored by my physicians and all of my physicians know all of my medications that I am taking.

I guess that is what separtes me from the ilegal drug seeker going from hospital to hospital and clinic to clinic trying to get any prescription he can get to fill his fix. He doesn't have a particular drug he is asking for. He will take anything he can get. And if you say no. He will return on the next shift with a different complaint still trying to fix that ever present need he is craving. The need incited in him that will cause him to steal from the ones he loves and do things that he will hate himself for later. I am not condemning him I am understanding him, but I am also separating myself from him. I know my limitations and I get my drugs honestly and by the book, he gets his drugs by the streets, in the alleys, and yes sadly sometimes by the system and do you know what I love him anyway because he is my brother.

One thing that makes me mad is drug seekers that don't really have any pain!

My best friend unfortunately knows a person that is addicted to pain medication. This addict walked into a doctors office paying cash and they gave her Hdrocodone 5mg first month, 7.5mg second month, and next month they are going to give her 10mg. This person takes these pills and trades them for things she can put in a needle.

It makes me so mad because I have been suffering for more than a year without any type of pain medicine and this drug abuser walks in and gets what ever she wants!

It truelly discusts me. This person does not need pain meds.

I hope she will be denied soon because they have set her up an appointment with a pain clinic and shes canceled twice on her physical therapy. I hope when she doesn't show up for her pain management app. they will catch on!

I think that it is just an occurrence that happens way too often.. I tell my docs that I don't want meds and that I prefer to go the natural way and they usual insist that I take the script. I do, but usually wait a few days to fill it. I had a friend that asked me once if she could have my daughters Diazapam.. She was hooked on the pill form and I had the rectal suppository for and she asked me.. I told her HECK NO!! She tried because she found out that she could get high off of it even more because it was a higher dosage theat she took with the pills..

t makes me so mad because I have been suffering for more than a year without any type of pain medicine and this drug abuser walks in and gets what ever she wants!

I feel the same way!!
