Here are some tips my sleep doctor gave me yesterday. He deals with chronic pain and fibro patients. My problem is falling asleep and waking up many times a night.

1- No caffine 5 hours before bedtime.

2- No smoking. (All Drs say that)

3- Hot baths should be taken at least 3 hours before going to bed. ( It has to do with core body temp. and it may help you fall asleep but will wake you up as your temp. comes down.)

4- Write in a journal 2 hours before bedtime. Write about the pain and all of the things you may worry about in bed. Get out frustrations and bad feelings. Close the journal and put closure on the day. Tell yourself that you will deal with it in the morning.

5- If you can't fall asleep, Get out of bed and do something relaxing. Do not stimulate your mind. Read, listen to music, watch TV (not a show that you like.)

6- Use the bedroom for sleeping and intimacy only.

7-Keep your bed and bedroom comfortable for sleep.

8-Go to bed and get up at the same time everyday. One day will throw off your sleep pattern.

9-Eat well and at the same time everyday.

10- Wind down and relax before bedtime and after you have wrote your journal.

11- Join a support group. ( HIS BEST IDEA)!!!

12- Do not nap during the day. Try to push through the pain by keeping busy.

13- Get help with depression. It goes hand in hand with Fibro and Chronic pain.[b]

We are all different and have different pain. I just thought I would share this and hopefully help someone else. If anyone knows of other things to try, please let me know.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP AND PAIN FREE DAYS!! Your friend and fellow fibro-mite, Chris

Your Friend, Chris

This is great. Thanks mommyof6. I used to take my hot baths like an hour before bed, so I'll remember that one. Thanks for posting this.
