Hi savedone. Yes I have had/have sciatica pain from a back/tailbone injury about 4 years ago. Physical therapy helped mine a whole lot but every once in awhile I am still bothered my it. Actually just was earlier this week. I also have piriformis syndrome. Piriformis syndrome is a neuromuscular disorder that occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or otherwise irritated by the piriformis muscle. This causes pain, tingling and numbness in the buttocks and along the course of the sciatic nerve. I used to take flexerill and percocet for pain but with the physical therapy it did help to make it tolerable. I hope you can find some relief soon.

I have sciatica pain as well. It just started this year, so I'm not sure if it's linked with Fibro or not! However, when I first went to Acupuncture she 'knew' I had it without my telling her, so whatever that means!

Dang the pain hurts SOO bad!!!

Sciaticia hurts soooo bad. I first developed it when I was about 8 months pregnant with my first child who will be 21 very soon. I guess she was laying on the nerve, & she still is

It went away, then came back many years later for quite some time with the numbness also. Went away again & now it's been back for these last 6 years.

I also have sacroillittis (sp) on both sides, they are your SI joints which attach to your pelvis & sciatiac nerve also (I think). I was telling my pain guy how bad it is before during & after my period and he said that is normal becuase of the uteras swelling (can't spell that either)

Nothing works for me, I had a nerve block done & it didn't work, won't be trying that again.

Oh okay I had that after the car wreck the therapy I went thru helped it though. Every once in awhile I get it back but it always goes away but I don't know if thats fibro or after affects of the wreck.

The only thing that works for my sciatica is a visit to the chiropractor. He can manipulate the area and then puts the TENS unit on it and it really does get rid of it ........for a while. There are excercizes to do to keep it from coming back, like pelvic tightening. Stupid me doesn't do them, of course, if it don't hurt, it doesn't get my attention. Too much pain present to think of things that don't hurt at the time.

Have had sciatica pain on and off for years. I was given exercises by a PT several years ago and the one "exercise" that helps me the most is this...have a chair handy...

Lay on the floor and scoot your bottom toward the chair. Put your calves/feet on the chair and continue to scoot until you have your bottom almost touching the base of the chair. Picture this: laying on the floor, but sort of "sitting"...behind/back on the floor, thighs going up chair, calves/feet on chair.

Now...just lay there for about 15 minutes at a time. I watch TV (sure it's side ways, but what the heck).

Do this 2 to 3 times a day. You may be surprised. I generally get relief after doing this twice in one day.
