I believe that Fibro, anxiety and depression are intertwined with brain chemistry - pain and other signals are sent from the same pathways. It is thought that overactive neurons send signals randomly...be it pain or anxiety or depression. I have started taking lyrica. The current thinking is that it slows down the overactive neurons and hence the pain/depression and or anxiety decreases. So far I have noticed a marked decrease in morning stiffness. My neck still hurts because of DD disease....but not as much. Anyone have any thoughts comments, rumors??

I was on Lyrica for 4 days and I became really, really ill.

It has been a wonder drug for so many though. And, I'm so glad that it's working for some!

Welcome Gerry and jamClarks, glad to hear that the Lyrica is working for you. I took it for abut 5 days but the migraines it gave me were unbearable,so back to Neurontin for me. You are gonna love it here, there are the most amazing people here.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Interesting...Neurontin is basically an older version of Lyrica. Could the headaches have been a coincidence??

i did that too kesslmama,Lyrica for a short time started to swell i immediately went back to gabapentin (neurontin)with in a month. I didn't even connect the headaches because they were sinus, i thought. No coincidence Garry, probably has a few different med in the lyrica, that give her a headache, there not identical r they? Check it out Garry (my new friend) pardon me boy friend, LOL ha-ha that was fun, could u please.

Basically Lyrica is a more potent version of gabapentin...which is why you take less of it than Neurontin....the theory is that Lyrica will cause fewer side effects because the dose is lower. However it seems to work well for some....but not for others. I have not had any side effects at all and am taking 150mg twice a day. It greatly reduces my morning stiffness and also has a calming effect similar to a benzodiazapine.
