First: the best place to find a doctor is the American Medical Association website.

http://www.ama-assn.org/apps/captcha/verify.cgi? reason=nocookie&method=GET&url=http://webapps.ama-assn.org/doctorfinder/disclaimer.jsp

This link will take you straight to the page you need to start. There is an advanced search for pain management.

I found one Non-AMA member in Seattle: Antoine Dante Jones , MD. When the doctor is a non-member, the AMA does not give any contact information.

What I usually do is go to whitepages.com and look them up. (Yellowpages.com makes it too difficult).

Remember, you always want a doctor in Pain Medicine (Anesthesiology).

I found a doctor on this website in Seattle. The address is 1201 Boylston Avenue and it is Dr. Dr. Cassius, David A.. I am sure there are more on this website, but you apparently have to go through alot of Pain Management Specialists in Florida first. Too bad this site doesn't let you search by state.....

And---I still wish this site's Preview button worked. Is it just my computer????

The Fibro clinic has been trying to get me to get the injections but I have been passing on them. But they said if they do the injections they could do a better job on the massage because they can go deeper in the tissue. Im like neither of them sound fun so I opted out. I never thought of acupuncture though I think Im going to look into that thanks!!!!

I'm definately going to try to go to a acupuncurist because I have had a total of 7 steroid epidoral injections and none of them had helped me, but the one for the total of a few days I felt alittle relief from my neck. I go to a pain center in Pa and the pain doctor did all of my injections. I was under for all of them, so I didn't have to see the needles or feel the needles at all!!! I have heard different levels of relief for all people. I think it is definately worth a try, even if it gives relief for just a week. Some pain relief is better than none at all. You may just be alittle sore for the day after the injection.

Trigger point injections do work, but make sure that you have your MRI either with you or have it mailed to your doctor. He/She will want to see where your damaged disc is.

A Pain Management Specialist is also a good idea. Also, I would recommend seeing either a Neurosurgeon or a Neurologist. I have found the best place for finding a doctor in your area is the AMA website at http://www.ama-assn.org/apps/captcha/verify.cgi? reason=nocookie&method=GET&url=http://webapps.ama-assn.org/doctorfinder/disclaimer.jsp . Also, WebMD has a doctor finder service at http://doctor.webmd.com/physician_finder/home.aspx? sponsor=core

You should call ahead to make sure that they take your insurance and also ask if they do trigger point injections. I have had it done a few times and it worked for a little while. It doesn't hurt too bad; that was my experience. Everyone is different.

Another procedure that a pain doctor can perform is a Cervical Cortisone Epidural. I have gone through that a couple of times, but I urge you to tell the doctor that you want it done while you are under anesthesia if you don't like needles. I had 3 herniated discs a few years ago and I decided to see a Chiroprator. That worked great, but only lasted a couple of days and I had to see her 3 times a week.

I wish you the best of luck,

Janet
