I need to get some help from my fellow fm friends. I have found a great website that explains a lot of side effects, but I have one that I am not sure is part of the Lyrica?

Below is a list of the side effects of Lyrica:

Lyrica: Adverse Reactions

Serious Reactions: thrombocytopenia

hypersensitivity rxn

angioedema (rare)

anaphylactoid rxns (rare)

skin rxns,

severe (rare)

rhabdomyolysis (rare)

suicidality

Common Reactions:

dizziness

somnolence

ataxia

peripheral edema

weight gain

blurred vision

accidental injury

diplopia

abnormal thinking

dry mouth

tremor

infection

headache

asthenia

constipation

incr. appetite

amnesia

neuropathy

confusion

incoordination

abnormal vision

abnormal gait

vertigo

muscle twitching

decreased platelets

arthralgia/myalgia

So there you have it...the many side effects that I found. Anyway I am wondering if anyone has pain in their quadriceps that feels as if you have been lifting weights (but haven't)??? I can't seem to get my legs to relax. I can get other parts of my body to relax, especially when listening to my relaxation cds but not my legs. I am thinking it is somehow the myofascial pain but don't know how to resolve it? I have tried heat and massage along w/ my pain meds but nothing is touching it. Please help! Thanks!!

I am new to the board. I will post an intro later but I had to reply to this post. I took Lyrica and my pain became severe. Not just one place but all over. We just have to remember that it doesn't work for everyone, unfortunately.

I searched for about two hours yesterday making sure I had every side effect of Lyrica and even that far into my search I was finding new ones, but had to give up because I was hurting and fatigued.

I read on here yesterday that someone was having some swelling and I found out that is a serious allergic reaction.

--swelling of the face, mouth, lips, gums, tongue, or neck

There are many more side effects that are not even in the list here.Seriously if you search long enough you will see there are enough side effects that you could write a small book on them.

Also I found one side effect of Lyrica could be heart failure.

I'm truelly afraid of this drug and I'm scared that when I go to the pain clinic they are going to put me back on it.

hi cool mamma, i've been on Lyrica since jan 08, it has been a long ride, but currently i am taking only 150 mg a day because of the side effects and i not sure how long i will stay at this amount.

but i also started taking ultram er at the same time 300mg-to replace 400mg of tramadol, i think the ultram er gave me more side effects, some just like yours, due to the cost of ultram er i ditched it and went back to tramadol. some of the side effects went away. i just thought i would fyi.

also i have found lyrica reacts with many meds just as it claims it might. my statement about lyrica is--it's a tough med-- reacting diffently with everyone.

Chappy, thanks for the response to Lyrica side effects. I ended up tapering off Lyrica and Cymbalta (one at a time) per my doc's suggestions. We decided the side effects I was experiencing were outweighing the benefits. I must say that the tapering off Lyrica for me was not nearly as bad as going off the Cymbalta. The withdrawl effects of Cymbalta were HORRIBLE!! I had soooo many mood swings & cried all the time I felt like I was losing my mind.

Now that I am completely off those two meds and have started Effexor (at a very low dose), I am a much happier person! My emotions have totally evened out and I am me again! I think my family really appreciates it too! So, all in all, I think that people react differently to meds so we all need to make sure we keep our doc in the loop of what we are experiencing and keep them a part of our team. I am very fortunate to have some really good docs that I am working with.

Many blessings to all of you and may you all have a low pain day so you can enjoy some sunshine in your day!!

With much love and gentle {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

My Dr. is going to start me on Lyrica. Reading everything that you all are saying is scaring me. I am on Cymbalta also. I take 120mg. divided in 30mg. 3 times a day. I also have anxiety real bad. I take Ativan for that. I take Serequel at night for sleep.

I've been taking Lyrica for several months and it helps me a lot. I do have some side effects including weight gain, feeling loopy, and some muscle twitches. For me, the benefits outweigh the side effects.

I also started taking Cymbalta recently. It's helping me a lot more than Lexapro. I don't take narcotics, so there really aren't many options.

I started to experience what I call habitual muscle clinching way before I started taking Lyrica, not only my legs, but feet, toes, shoulders, hands, and especially my teeth. As soon as I notice I'm clinching, I focus on relaxing, but not 5 minutes later I'm doing it again.

May your fears be released,
May blessings, love, and joy surround you.

I was reading alot of the posts. my doctor is now weening me off cymbalta and i will be starting lyrica next week.i'm hoping that i have a good response to it.i was given a shot of depomedrol that i thought was a miracle cure,at least for 3 weeks.i didn't have pain just fatigue, and not one migraine.first time since i was 18 that i went that long without a headache.but..there is always a but..i was told i can only get that 4 times a year.i also have the teeth clinching..i had to buy a mouth guard for bedtime.i get so bad sometimes i can't open my mouth to eat.but hey i lost 3 lbs i am now sure i will gain back when i start lyrica.

I get dizziness and nausea and I think it may be from the Lyrica. I take 150 MG a day. I am hoping I get over the side effects so I don't have to try a new medicine. I have really bad muscle clinching in my teeth and face.
