MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

Hello to all,

This is new for me. My Doctor recommended this web site. I'm wanting some Positive feed back on Cymbalta and how some of you may have take it---dose wise to avoid some side effects you may have experienced??

I started it once before and after 4 days had some hot flashes. I am about ready to start Cymbalta again --like I said I would like positive feed back,as I am truley trying to avoid negitive thoughts-- Smile

Also, Are any of you on a vitamin regiment, diet and what kind of exercise works for you???

thanks--Positive

I would say that Cymbalta saved my life as far as depression goes...I was in a horrible place in my life and it helped pull me out. I just recently went off of it because I was maxed out on the dosage and wanted to see how I would do without it. I am okay so far but I can say that now I am without it, it was doing something for the pain.

I am really researching vitamins to try and get the right combo. So far, I am taking:

Vit c

multivit cardio formula-I have high cholesterol

Garlic- also for cholesterol

Folic acid- I plan to have children in the next year or so

Fish oil- I swear for anyone dealing with digestion issues- this works wonders

As far as exercise goes- I am trying to walk a little each day and back when I had a gym membership, the therapy pool was awesome!

You have a great doc for suggesting this! Welcome! I think that a combo of Lyrica & Cymbalta has done wonders for my depression, and maybe a tad of the pain too. I take 100mg Lyrica at bed (because taking during the day made me WAY TIRED & shakey), and 60mg Cymbalta in the morning.
Where are we going and why am I in this basket?!!!

Be kind to me, I have a teenager!

I have just started taking cymbalta this week. My md started me out with 30mg for the first week and then increased me to 60mg. He is hoping it will help me so that I can stay awake more and be in less pain. He did tell me to take it with a little bit of food.

I do also take several other meds and I take 800 mg of vit d a day.

I started Cymbalta about 2 1/2 weeks ago at 60mg - one time a day.

This was a great question to ask and I look forward to hearing what others have to say.

I have a question for those of you that take or have taken cymbalta, my md put me on it this week. Did any of you have extreme tiredness as a side effect? You all know that I have a problem with that anyway but since I have started taking it, I am exhausted, I have been up for a total of 6 hours today and have been exhausted for them, I am about to go back to bed because I cannot keep my eyes open. I am only taking 30 mg this week and will go up to 60 mg next week. I was wondering if it is me or if it is the meds.

I take one 60mg once daily. I had ask my MD. to switch me to something else as I was on Zolof and my eyes were so dry. He put me on Cymbalta, and I didn't even know it was suppose to help FM. till I got on here and seen how many people were taking it. I don't think it has did anything for my pain. I am tired all the time, but I don't think it is from the Cymbalta I think it's just chronic fatigue syndrome, that usually goes with the FM. Oh, by the way, my eyes are still dry!! LOL

Hi to all,

bc1028 and Suez, I think you both have some good points.

I am taking my Cymbalta @ 6 - 8 PM (after supper) and I go to bed around 9 -10 PM, as my first prescriber suggested this due to possible sleepyness with the medication so I figured take it again the same way- PM. In the last 4 days I am continuing waking up at night but instead of 3 - 4 times a night its 2 - 3 times. Needless to say, because of the weird weather I'm in pain but there is not suppose to be a change for a week or two. If you don't want to increase your med next week, could you call your doctor and explaine your problem amd see if they will work with you as this is to be a partnership--espically as we are Fibromyalgia patients---everthing I'v read strongly suggest this. Oh, I was thinking about those dry eyes --Are you useing some kind of eye drop????

I am also a LPN and had worked for 29 years-the last 13 years in Mental health. So I have some idea of these meds.

Thanks to all-- Later!!Wink

Coffee1, Hi shortstuff here! I am taking Cymbalta twice a day(60mgs. X 2) Once in the morning and the other around 3:00 ro 4:00p.m. This gives it time to almost be gone when I take my sleep meds. I take 1/2 ambien and 2 neurontin 300mgs. every night, an hour before I'm ready to go to sleep, and I sleep all night long. No more waking up at night 3-6 times a night. I feel so much better after a good nights sleep. I'm not saying that my sleep problems are over, I still have nights that nothing will help me sleep. But this does help. I hope this helped. Hang in there. And Welcome to our Family!
