I had an RX for medical marijuana when I had breast cancer in the late 70s but I never used it. Kind of wished I had because my chemo made me incredibly ill. But because I had never done any drugs I was afraid to. If I had it now, I would use it!!

an interesting study:

http://www.webmd.com/fibromyalgia/news/20080219/pot-drug- may-cut-fibromyalgia-pain

Just as an aside I was beginning to think that smoking (medical) reefer all day was increasing my fatigue so I stopped for a week to see if I felt less tired.

Nope, just as tired & more aware of the pain.

Thankfully I live in California where I can grow it for (almost free)

Hi there, for the past few weeks I have been smoking and the relief is amazing, unfortunately I become so messed up I absolutely cannot have anything else to do. The pain eases up tremendously and I cannot even remember laughing, thats such a plus, so I limit myself to nights and usually before bed. If it was legal here I know my Dr. would perscribe it. I was never a smoker when I was a hippie but now it is neccesary.

I get alot of relief from smoking too. I just wish it was legal so I wouldn't have to feel so guilty when I do. Like you, only at night though, but after a long day at work and more pills just wouldn't work, its a relief to have that to turn to occasionally.

In response to Maine recognizing medical mj, yes it does but it is still illegal and if caught with it, law enforcement will still arrest you.

I would love to get a hold of a 'dubie' and see if it would help. Unfortunately my son-in-law is a policeman so I guess that is out of the question

I found this website as suzee asked what states made medical marijuana legal:

When the world says give up, hope whispers give it one more try... unknown

unfortunately it's not legal for medicinal purposes here in NC. has that stopped me from self-medicating? nope.

it's been a source of disagreement between my husband and me, but only because it's illegal and he doesn't want me to get busted. i have to lie to my parents and my daughter about it, which stinks. they're vehemently anti-drug.

it would be different if i had insurance, or could afford to see my doctor on a regular basis and get prescriptions filled. grievously, i am one of those people who fall squarely between the cracks. if i didn't have some sort of pain relief once in a while, i probably would have killed myself by now.

as far as side effects go, once in a while i get paranoid, and sometimes i get energetic and try to do too much around the house. usually it just dulls the pain enough that i can do everyday chores, or i curl up and take a nap.

i'll step down off my soap box now
