Hey everyone, been a while since I've posted, but I just had to post b/c I am really happy about something.....finally am getting some relief from fibro pain! I went to my family doc after seeing a specialist and confirming the FMS diagnosis, and after being on lortab for almost a year it was starting to hurt my stomach and of course I still was waking up at night crying from the pain and feeling awful and in pain all the time despite the lortab and just really fed up with everyone in the medical community since it seemed everyone just wanted to throw me a lortab and think that was actually going to help with the type and level of pain that I have.....well, the dr asked me if I'd tried the fentynal duragesic patch, and I said 'no I've only had lortab' and he perscribed me 25mg patch which I change every 3dys and then koladapin .5 for before bedtime (then something for my stomach) and I just can't say enough for how much better I have been feeling. It is not completely killing my pain, but I am so much more comfortable and functioning so much better that I could just about cry with happiness!! I had to go through 6mo of hell to get here, but I'm finally here.....and so very happy..... there is hope!!

i think i can try to shed a little light, without incriminating myself...lol.

lets say ya got the lyrica for nuro pain, i don't know, soma for muscle, maybe a hydrocodone for general all over pain...

there is nothing for the connectivity tissue pain. sometimes my outer leg swells at the knee and hip outside (elsewhere as well but thats the worst part)... huge, like an easter eggs, i can't walk, i can't even hardly move the leg at all without excruciating pain.

that is what the mj does... somehow, i don't know how, but it gets to places that a pill just don't. you don't have to just sit and be a stoner, take that time where not only your nerves are calmer, but the pain is drastically reduced to do something creative. if you are already in so much pain you need the mj, NOTHING is gonna help you to pop up and do laundry anyways. so read a book. or better watch a movie. you are already down, try to make the most of it.

and if you are new to it.... peel some carrots, apples, anything healthy for the munchies, BEFORE partaking lol ... back in my college days, we would bake a cake at 2am... not a good idea...lol.

hope you may understand a wee bit better, it isn't the buzz we are after, which isn't evil in itself, but the relief. the quietness.

and OD-ing? i think the worst thing you can do is smoke yourself straight, and thats just a bummer, but you don't need to have your stomach pumped.

pondering, and looking for the phone...haha j/k

----and my OT post, thanks ALL of you, i think i have a better understanding.

Your rheumy should be giving you mobic for connective tissue disorder if you have it plus plaquenil for stopping it progress. Do you have that ponderring/ My daughter does thats why Im wondering.

I agree MJ does help, I really really wish they would legalize it in All states for medical use, does anyone know about 'marinol'?? Isn't that just like THC in a pill form?? Is that more readily available and is it even conceivable to give it to fibro patients?? I remember my mom had it for her cancer, but I heard it had become illegal since then here, just wondering about it....

MJ really does have a lot of positive benefits, even tho the government has tried to give it (as well as opiods might I add) such a negative image, which really is not realistic. They've tried to make ppl afraid of these things which are Natural drugs when there's Meth out there for God's sake, I just find it so sad and such a deviation from what mother earth intended; MJ and opiods do have their place, and they really should be allowed to be used when it clearly has its benefits.

I'm going to have to agree with pondering and leelee!! Mj has many benefits, it not only helps with pain but it also helps with sleep. It is unfortunate that some states say okay and most say no. I think that if there is anything available for pain in this country it should be allowed. The only reason it isn't legal for medical purposes is that the drug companies and the government won't allow it. This is a natural substance and has far less side effects on the body than many of the meds we must take on a daily basis.

Besides overturning the government don't know! Its going to take a strong group of people to beat them. Its an election year and I don't see any politian touching this one this year. I think its an issue that going to have to be decided by the courts of this country. I think until proven to the courts that it is needed by some for pain relief it will not be legalized anytime soon.

I too smoke sometimes (not often) when things great real bad.

I am not sure if it helps with my physical pain though.

I smoke so I will stop THINKING about my pain

I guess thats pretty much the same thing.

So flipping expensive though.

Does anyone know what states it's LEGAL in? I know of Washington State, because my doc brought it up to me a while back and I turned it down. But, how about other states???!!!

I mean, some people can't even get a PAIN MED prescribed to them...maybe they could try for some 'blunt' instead!! uh...did I say that?!
