I found this, (NORML) it seems that the whole country is a little messed up as far as the laws go. this, if i understand it correctly, means that what happened to the poor lady from mr. shapiro's post can happen to anyone! even if you have all of your ducks in a row. Why are the states so different. How can it be ok in one state, and so verrrry wrong in the next. These are the UNITED States for goodness sake. I love my Country, believe that, but for heaven sake, this is just not right!

The Supreme Court recently ruled that the U.S. Justice Department, including the Drug Enforcement Agency, may prosecute state-authorized medical marijuana patients for violating the federal Controlled Substances Act. What does this decision mean for seriously ill patients and for the ongoing tension between state and federal laws?

Laws in twelve states (Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington) remain in effect despite the Supreme Court's decision.

Just thought I would share this with you all. Drew Carey is a huge advocate for the legalization of marijuana. He recently started a project with reason.tv. he has an online video series called the Drew Carey Project, the second episode of which is about medical marijuana. Here is a link. Take a peak!

You know, it isn't just like ppl often pull up roots and just go moving to Amsterdam (do you know anything about moving to a foregin country like that and how difficult it would be to do it not to mention work visas, etc.) and Canada would be lovely but a lot of ppl have family here and the point is it just isn't easy to simply move off to another country or state just so you can 'smoke MMJ' I mean Come On, we should be able to do those things legally within certain limitations in the comfort of our own homes in our respective states.

Leelee,

I feel EXACTLY what you are saying! I am so upset that the people who use marijuana irresponsibly make it so hard for those of us who need the relief of it for chronic pain. I was discussing this with my husband just a few days ago. It is sad that with the USA being such a melting pot, that we cant all come together and regulate pot.
