For those of you that felt dizzy and nauseous on the Lyrica, did those symptoms start as soon as you started taking Lyrica, or did they start after a few days of taking it. I didn't start feeling dizzy and nauseous until 6 days after I started taking it. My husband had a head cold where he felt dizzy and I am not sure if I feel this way from the medicine or if I have a head cold as well.

I have a problem with other meds I start taking. They lots of times take the affects of my pain meds working . This has especially been true with wellbutrin. I usually quit taking them because I'll do anything to stop feeling the pain. Right now I stopped the wellbutrin cause I need to feel the pain meds. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I just started on Lyrica 50mgs three times a day.So far all it has done is make me dizzy and nauseous and my fingers are swelling, they look like sausages . I was taking neurontin but my insurance won't pay for the high dose my doc wants me on. Boy, do I miss my Neurontin!! I will keep trying the Lyrica for a little while to see if these symptoms get better or not, than will talk to doc about what we can do.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

It seems as though so many people experience these symptoms of dizziness/nauseousness. Why do they prescribe this medicine if so many people experience these symptoms?

Hi! I take 150mg of Lyrica in the evening. At first I had really bad vertigo. It was like my balance was off. It wasn't all the time, it would just start in the late afternoon...weird! I have been on it since October and it has pretty much stopped now. My doctor seems to think that my vertigo was withdrawals from coming off neurontin.

I am also new to Lyrica. I started w/ the 50mg at bedtime, then added the morning dose and then the lunch dose...so by the end of week one, I was up to the 150mg Dr prescribed. Then when I had a really bad day, I asked for pains meds to supplement. Dr denied and said increase dose to 100mg in am and pm...so now taking 200mg a day.

I originally was just having the euphoric feeling, but the seemingly increased energy and less pain was great!. Now I am having the vertigo, euphoric, dizzy feeling about 3 hrs after morning dose...and then again worse in mid-afternoon. The afternoon episode makes me feel like I'm gonna pass out. But then it passes and I am good again.

I kinda feel numb all over. For those that think the Lyrica helps: do you have this sorta numb feeling? Hands and Feet have the numb sensation, kinda like the numb of being swollen, but they aren't. It's really weird and I noticed a decrease in hand strength.

Anywho, I'm done rambling for now. Thank goodness there are others out there like me. Sometimes you feel so separated.

Later taters!

Casey

There are some side effects I can handle. Or they go away after a week or so, but the lyrica side effects I just couln't tolerate. Its a shame it costs sooo much even with the co-pay. I wish I had euphoria from it. I havn't felt euphoria in many moons. I know many of us have had lyme, how about mono? I'm not even going to attempt to spell it!

You know I sit here reading all the negatives about Lyrica and I wonder, before it was approved for FMS, who they tested the product on? I am still waiting for a call from my doctor about the bad effects it has on me - made the call Friday and here it is Monday 5:30pm and still no call. I am so frustrated. What is it with Doctors today? I thought I finally found a doctor who cared and understood what I was going through with the pain etc., but I guess she is like all others and just 'poopahs' it all. She has me going to a counselor. How is a counselor going to help the pain?? How do I find a doctor in my area who REALLY understands about Fibro? I get so depressed. I don't feel like getting a shower in the morning or even getting dressed. I look like hell. Don't care what I look like any more. At one time I wouldn't dare start the day without showering, doing my hair and applying make-up.....never knew who might ring my doorbell, . Now I don't give a s**t. I know I got off the track there about the Lyrica being the "wonder drug" for Fibro but in my books it is just another drug to make the drug companies richer and the doctors who prescribe it. And yes it is very costly. Am I angry?? You bet I am.

I read that Lyrica actually helps with the substance P problem we have.. At least it does that and is supposed to help with nerve pain we get.

It does get you dizzy. Definitely. I felt so foggy I couldnt drive.

I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

Maggie, I can respond to you because I feel like absolute shit today and I am mad at everything and everbody. The doctors today are so overloaded with paperwork and people to call they can't keep their heads on straight. They try to put everything off on their nurses, even the calls back. I don't always blame my caring doctor for not getting back to me UNLESS I make a desperate call to him to get back to me. They are just too overloaded with patients. When I get mad is when you put in a desperate call and you wait 2 days for a call back, or if its a call about medicine reactions or something. I laugh at my dr. when I leave the exam room and he says, call me if you want. I say, are you serious and we laugh. Its a very serious problem. I worry about a dr. who isn't busy, though. As far as taking care of yourself, I can SOOO relate!!! I don't even get out of my p.j's half the time. Lyrica scared me half to death but hey its working for some of us... Anyway I'm so depressed right now I was actually glad to hear someone else upset. My husband comes home tonight and asks me if I'm having a bad day. He has been the most clueless person I have ever met. Even my kids understand better than he does. I told him I didn't want to be alone, and he left to go to his yoga class. I could go to my daughters but I'm afraid to drive. He just doesn't get it. Sorry, I should have made this a personal message. I really needed to get that all out. Thanks Maggie, and anyone else who was in on reading...
