don't know what happened with that last post....just wondering, how do you go about with getting disability for FMS? I couldn't even think about working now, I would miss more dys than I could be at work, but as I am so young I definately don't have enough Social Security built up (I'd have to work another 7yrs I believe) how severe does your FMS have to be before determining disability and how do you even go about getting that confirmed by a doc, etc? Just curious, something I've been wondering about.....how many ppl here work a full-time job and are able to be there 99.9% of the time anyway??

I was just looking through some disability posts and found yours. I'm sorry that no one has responded. And I wish I had an answer for you. Have you tried (I'm sure you probably have) looking online to see about information for getting disability without enough work hours?

Maybe you could contact some of these disability rep places. They usually ask you a bunch of questions to see if you qualify for disability. If they tell you 'no' because of your work credits, ask them what you need to do, because you DO need it.

Sorry, that's the only advice I have. Maybe by me posting and getting this thing on the Fibro Home Page again...maybe more people will see it and hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

Take Care.

Welcome leelee, I'm sorry I didn't see your posts either.

Well, I have to admit, for me even though I'm in my 50's I came from the generation that women stayed home and the man worked!! So I haven't built up much hours either, just every now and again. So I had to go for just SSI. That's all I'm eligible for. I had to go thru the same steps mosts do. First apply for yourself, then usually you get turned down and then get lawyer. It's a process. What you really need ia a good supportive doc who knows you and the illness. Have you been thru all the blood work and the elimination of everythign else first?

I'm not sure where you live but if you don't have a doc yet there are ways to look for them.

Let me know where you stand with your doc, ok?

Hope you keep coming back and find what you need!!

Thanks for the replies! I was going to a bona-fide rheumy but those lortabs were Killing my stomach, and I had to make it to regular family doc for them to finally give me adequate pain relief--in the form of 25mg fentynal patches...they don't kill the pain completely, I still have break through, but now I am able to function Much better than I was and Feel much better than I was, which I am So Very Grateful for. After being shunted around for almost an entire year and given lortab 7.5's for that long too, this is a great relief! So I've quit the rheumy and the blood tests he wanted me to take (which I already took some like for markers and other things) I just put to the side b/c I figured 'what's the point if he's not going to be doing anything for me and charging me more for it' you know??? I might have to check into those disability things eventually, but.....I just got word also that I'm going to have a book published (I've only been waiting 15yrs for that since I've been writing since like the age of 13) but maybe that'll bring in income for me, who knows, right?? This could by my ticket to fame *lol*

Oh Leelee, I'm so glad for you!!

At least something for pain is better then nothing.

I've been on fentantyl patches at first it was 50mgs but I asked to go down. Now I want the 50's cause I really did get better lreief then before. I've got to see my old doc again and hope he helps me out!!

And now you might have a book published....WOW!

What's the name of it and what's about?

Wow leelee that is so great. I love to read and have been an avid reader since I learned how. So now I can say I actually know a soon to be published writer. What kind a book is it and what is it about. Could you be the next J.K Rowling or Nora Roberts? Are you still able to write? The only way I can do this site is I have a laptop and a wireless router and that way I can lay down and type away or play games or chat or whatever.

I also apologize for not seeing your earling post. I have applied for disability and my age is a factor also because at the time I was 45 and that is considered young. Go to ssa.gov and you can do alot of research about it and actually you can apply online. That at least can get you started.
