Just so you guys know- there is a certain "Treatment Center or Centers" around the country focusing on fibro and CF. One is near me.

I went there 4 years ago. Personally it wasn't helpful to me however I have a friend with fibro who did get relief.

The approach is more curative and using natural stuff which I'm not totally against.

Price tag is high. My first visit there with the consultation, blood tests, intervenous injections bag of stuff to take was about 800 bucks. (ok I was flareup and desperate.) AND I had a reaction to these immune building injections - not hives- some immune response and had sores all over my midsection for about a month.

If you are thinking about it just be prepared to pay alot. To get my follow up on all the blood tests (like 28 viles of blood) it cost me $200 to get the results.

Could be helpful- but be prepared to pay-

thought you should know- meleggs

I have been talking to this treatment center wondering if they can do anything more to help me and i am 500 miles away and i really don't want to go long distance; but, i am so frustrated with the status of the medical treatment available... Thank you for putting a realistic perspective on this organization. I have already shelled out a fortune on treatment for this condition. I do not want to shell out another one.

I totally understand. Personally I think given the distance you'd be better off seeking a holistic doctor closer to you. Lots of us have borderline low thyroid, hormonal problems, and sometimes even parasites in the gut etc. Any good holistic doctor can check for things like that: especially if you get information from the "treatment center" on things they look for. I think the initial packet they sent me gave some examples of what they were looking for with people who have fibro and chronic fatigue.

Personally I see a doctor of "Physical Medicine" who has fibro himself. Dr. Mark Pellegrino- might have heard his name because he has written quite a few books. He suggested to me that if someone on the forum is trying to see a good doctor he recommended his speciality- Phisatry- I think I spelled it right. I take both traditional medications along with lots of supplements. He has great bedside manor and obviously since he has the condition he is very very easy to talk with.

Hope this helps!

It is so hard to get all the doctors talking to each other. How does one get to see the doctor you are seeing? Does he take new patients

What is Phisatry or do you mean psychiatry?

One has to register for an appointment before they get any packages or information from the treatment center now.

I have not gone that far yet. It really sounds good to treat the cause and not the symptoms. But, i do not want to get false hope going either.

No I registered too- then I think they sent me some kind of package. It was a while ago-

Anyway no it is Phisatry- "Physical Medicine"- He is in Ohio. I know many of the forum people have read his books and wish they could see him. He is very good and understanding.

I think his website is www.ohiorehabcenter.com or it's www. ohiorehab.com

I am pretty sure it is the first one. You can read up on the treatments they offer. Most conditions are pain related. He is Pellegrino- Hope it helps!

Since we last posted- has anyone gone to these special treatment centers for our condition? Only reason I ask is I happened to look on their website to see what supplements they are selling now. It just so happens some are "Prohealth" supplements from www.immunesupport.com AND- the centers are jacking up the prices on those supplements over 50%!

That's what gets me mad about those centers! They advertise that they really want to help people with our conditions but the pricetag is so high and then you find out they are obviously overcharging for their supplements???? Sorry I had to vent. I don't like wolves in sheep's clothing and although they need to make a profit too- uping prices for people like us who are desperate for help makes me wonder how sincere they really are to help us!!!!!

Unfortunately there are many places that claim to "cure" fibro and

capitalize on our suffering and desperation for a cure, and the lack of any one proven treatment in the mainstream medical community. I've found many websites like that as well. Perhaps the snakeoil for profit aspects of these treatment centers and websites are what make so many people skeptical that fibro is a "real" disease and if it actually exist, because many of these treatment places are so obviously making a huge profit and making false claims. They do a lot of harm for our cause.

Some of them are legit and really help people, but how can you separate those from the quacks?

Hampton for one found tremendous relief from fibro symptoms at one of these centers, and I'm sure that many others have too...but with the high prices they charge for everything and the fact that many or most of them don't take insurance and want thousands of dollars up front, I can't help but be skeptical and cautious when I see them promoting "cures" for fibro. You know the old saying, "a fool and his money are easily parted..."

My former pain MD referred me to one of these. Good thing I did me homework first. I specifically asked if they took my insurance. They said yes, they taka all insurance. I then went on their website where it clearly states Testing and consult are covered, but treatments and suppliments are not. They do some non conventional stuff like rolfing and hot stone massage at twice the cost of the foo foo day spa. I can barely afford deep tissue massage e o w and that's with my regular guy who I've had for 3 years now. He makes house calls.

If I want to the appt. at the holistic pain center, it would have cost over $1000 initialy and what ever else they could try to milk out of me before we went broke. Im glad I read the "fine print".
