I don't think I mentioned this yet- forgive me fibro fog but I highly recommend books by Dr. Mark Pellegrino.

1. He has 10 books on the subject

2. He has fibro

3. I am lucky enough to see him- he is in Canton Ohio

He is a rehab specialist but many people see him with fibro for the obvious. He listens to all your concerns but is really focused on trying to help people have some quality of life.

I never feel wierd to talk about any of my symptoms and he never gives you a look like "wow- this chick is a nutjob."

He believes in both traditional medicine and alternative approaches.

He is worth the almost hour drive for me to see a few times a year. His staff is great and when you need refills or anything they are right on the ball.

Just an FYI

He IS really good. I feel so lucky I can see him.

When I left my last job because of my employers and fibro I got choked up and he was so nice about it.

His stuff in my opinion is right on the money.

What kind of treatment does he do for you? What are some of the things he tries? I am in desperate need of a doctor that understands what I am going through and am willing to drive to Ohio, I live in Kentucky.

Well I can't say everything is SO NEW or unheard of. It is just he knows that everyone with this condition is an individual and that is how he approaches you. He uses traditional medicines but also makes recommendations on nutrition, vitamens, suppliments and even alternative therapies like acupunture, acupressure etc.

Currently I am on meds you hear about on the forum i.e. lexapro- have/had problems with depression and anxiety with the fibro, flexril and ultram for pain as needed- I take a few a day/ more on days with more pain, lidocane patches for pain as needed, kolonopin for sleep. I also take nystatin which is for yeast overgrowth in the gut- most traditional doc.s don't buy into this but he does. On top of that I take probiotics for the gut, colostrum to boost immunity, magnesium, Coq-10, and a good multi-vit.

It is not what he perscribes but his bedside manner that I am so impressed with. He mixes both traditional and nontraditional stuff- most importantly he HAS the CONDITION- there is nothing I feel uncomfortable about talking with him. He really listens and wants to help people have a quality of life. Oh I also got lidocane shots during a flare up.

hope that is helpful-m
