I had my cardiology appointment today. Heart is fine.

I showed him my rashes on my legs and told him about my hemaglobin being high so he asked me the following questions. Do I snore? Do I talk in my sleep, Do I toss and turn, Do I wake up feeling exhausted, Do I take naps during the day. Answers were all yes.

So he's setting me up for a sleep apnea test. Seems the rash on my lower legs is caused by capillaries bursting because I don't get enough oxygen into my system. I get to sleep overnight at the Sleep disturbance Center and they get to watch me sleep at night and also see me with my racoon eyes and bed head in the morning. I've always been a shallow breather since I was a baby so I know what the results will be before I take the testTongue

Yep, That's been fine ever since they put the stent in 4 years ago. I only had one blockage so I was lucky. My father and 4 of his sisters and brothers all died suddenly of cardiac arrest. I wasn't taking any chances of that happening to me so I went to the ER when I was having really bad heartburn and asked them to do a cardiology work up. My dad died 28 years ago at age 61. I was 53 so I didn't want to rule out heart disease.

Hi Auntie. I've been having a fibro flare in my hands, feet and right shoulder. I think the hands and feet are more the arthritis than the fibro.

I'll go to the hospital to have the test done and just stay over night.

That will be great because I can never sleep in those hospital beds and I have to have it totally dark when I sleep. Also, I don't know if they give you jammies to wear or if I have to bring my own. Right now I just sleep in my t shirt and underwear.

Anybody know what I should bring to the sleep over?

When I had mine, I had to bring my sleep clothes, tooth brush, etc. The bed was great and I think I had the best few hours sleep I had in ages. I had the option of leaving the t.v. on, the door open, etc. It wasn't so bad until they put the cpap type mask on in case I needed that to prevent from waking me during the night to apply it. I'm "mild" to med but don't need the machine as of the day I had it done which was almost a year ago now.

Check with your local sleep center, they will tell you all you need to know. Glad to hear no major bad changes Smile

When I had my first sleep study done, I took my own pajamas, slippers and robe. They woke me at 4 a.m. to go home. I didn't wear a CPAP machine for the first study. I didn't feel like I slept much, but I guess I did. They recorded that I stopped breathing about 78 times an hour! When I went back the second time, I wore the CPAP machine and that was weird but I did fall asleep. There was no clock, no TV in the room. They didn't want any distractions at all. I awoke once the first time to go to the bathroom. The room was really nice and comfortable and quiet and dark. I had no pets on the bed with me which was very nice. Now I am scared to sleep without the CPAP machine because of the nightmares I was having without one but I am getting a new mask that expands away from the face when the air starts flowing so I don't get any ridges on my face from it. I am hoping it will be more comfortable. Mine machine also has a humidifier on it. Good luck with your study!

I actually had to go for 2 nights because I didn't sleep enough the first night for them to get enough information. They got me up at 4am as well. I had to take my own sleep wear, no gowns, so a t-shirt and shorts should be fine. I trialed a cpap machine at home, but was never able to fall asleep with it. I don't fall asleep quickly anyway, it just made it more difficult. If I would have tolerated the machine, I would have had to go back again for another night for them to document that the machine helped my sleep so that the insurance would pay for it.

Hope all goes well.

I sleep in a t-shirt and undies. I guess I'll have to go get atleast a new t-shirt as mine has paint all over it. Smile Hmmmmmmm they wake you at 4 AM. They won't get anything off of me then cause I don't go to sleep until 2:30 or 3:00 AM. Maybe I'll stop my naps for a few days that way I'll be sure to fall asleep.

Good morning, Janilee ... Smile

Since you know you are going to the Sleep Clinic, I would have thought they (dr. office) would have given you more direction as to what to expect.

Seems I have heard someone that has gone say they weren t allowed to nap/sleep at all the day before the sleep-over or something.

I think I would be calling the Clinic and ask some questions.....
